i'm all for this. what's to be gained by drawing a line in the sand when the player doesn't want to be there? it infects everything to drag it out. the deal doesn't have to be a deal from weakness. whenever a trade is being made, each side always wants to move on for some reason. find a partner and a good return and turn the page. - hammarby31
It's also about what there is to be lost. I wouldn't let a 20 year old kid who is not an established NHL dictate what I do. I'd do what's best for the team. Feelings like a player wanted to be traded can pass, and change. I send the kid down, let him play, call him up when the timing is right, and go from there.

The upside on the kid is incredible... there aren't many current or in-the-system players that I wouldn't throw into a deal for Drouin. - Tomahawk
He's one player I haven't seen as much. I know the hands and vision are there. Don't know about the skating or hockey sense, if he tries defensively.
Just watching them on the California trip...Voracek has really helped by being productive on the left side, but poor Giroux just needs some help.
God bless Raffl and Schenn, because they were not awful on the trip and have not been killing the Flyers every night. But the Flyers need someone else to help them in the Top 6, someone who has pure skill that leads to points
Again, doesn't have to be Drouin. But they need another Top 6 forward to produce. They just do |

Another worry in the Drouin situation is, there's a rumor that he's going to refuse to report. If that's the case, I really lose interest in the kid, because that is some flat out stupidity on his-and his agent's-part. That will cement the malcontent/headcase argument and that sort of thing makes me really leery of trading for him. |

If Sanhiem and Laughton got it done would you do it? That is knowing that theyd have two 1sts after the Streit trade and Provorov with a decent shot to make the team next year. |

It's definitely ballsy. The Bolts have an embarrassment of riches though. If he were drafted by any other team he'd be getting top six minutes and a nightly basis. Because of that I can see why he's so frustrated.

I really hope he does report. If he doesn't, that would likely end my interest in him. That just bugs me, be a pro for Christ's sake. Play the game. |

Yeah, see...that stuff is less important to me than some, because what if Cooper's a wiener? It happens from time to time, where the organization and a player just wind up really not being on the same page.
I just never think it's cool for the teams to always get to be the ones to kick the players in the ass, you know? Seguin is a good example -- you get to tear him apart on the way out the door, move him wherever you want, whenever you want. Same with MDZ in New York/Nashville, and how Tortorella gets to walk in and (frank) with Ryan Johansen.
I'm not saying the player is always right. I'm saying that sometimes, these organizations have their share of bumholes, too |

Yeah, Cooper could well be a wiener. It may well be the Lightning are Richarding him over.
At the same time, in those other cases there was some cause for concern. My issue isn't that he's asking for the trade, it's that he's making it public and allegedly refusing to report to the AHL.
If you're unhappy, request the trade. If it drags out, wait until the summer then maybe make it public. Doing it the way he has has not done anything positive for him or his teammates. |

See. Exactly my point.
I get that the kid may feel wronged and may well be on the receiving end of bad treatment. Still, suck it up get through the season and then make the demand public, if they still haven't made a move.
Doing this stuff in season doesn't help the team or the player. |

I agree, in that he certainly has no leverage with his NHL rights. He should report, absolutely. But this one...we all knew something was up with Cooper and Drouin, after McKenzie wrote about it. That was last season. Could be that enough is enough |

It could be. Still bugs me that he'd do this in season. If he reports and stays quiet, I'd be more open to a potential deal.
Still don't think Hextall agrees to the asking price. I doubt a couple prospects gets it done. |

No, I played.
But seriously, I played mostly D. I just started skating again recently, and only picked up the stick again last week. I was very rusty, but held my own. |

Hopefully you get selected in this year's draft
I don't know if you played with strangers, but if I go to the rink by my house, I usually decline to play pickups. Just work on stuff instead. No one passes the damn puck. The rink is populated, when it's populated, by dippoop teens and twenty somethings. I loathe them. |

Probably not...gonna be steep. Smells like the kind of deal Bryan Murray or Bob Murray might look at
