Penguins don't have what Tampa needs
- todd1a

How many top 4 seasons does Matt Carle have in him? You need a replacement. I honestly have no idea what you have in your system. Got anyone who'd be ready to step into 2LD behind headman as soon as next season?

What does Tampa need?

all kidding aside, I don't think Tampa trades Drouin for another prospect, their pipeline is loaded with talent at almost every position. IF Drouin is traded, I see it for an established top 6 forward, whether it be a rental or not.

Trading one unknown for another just does not make sense for either organization at this time

Carle hasn't been playing in the top 4 for quite some time.. it's been Heddy, Stralman, Garrison, and then Coburn/Sustr rounding out the top 4 with Nesterov and either Coburn or Sustr on the bottom pairing.

Never say never...

Also.. all of your topics are pretty obvious. Do any of those really need a blog? I don't think so... you can find those blogs anywhere else, like the trib, or post gazette, or pensburgh...

- j.boyd919

The worst kept secret in hockey is Stamkos is going to the leafs, Drouin slots into the top line for Tampa next year.

And while those topics may be obvious they are also relevant to our team. Every one of our blogs degrade into fantasy trades, if the blog starts off as one we'll have nothing to talk about in 25 mins

Unless they are absolutely convinced he will be a bust, Drouin has more value in the TBL organization than in a trade. The same might not be true for Pouliot who might never ascend above Maatta and Dumoulin even if he does develop as expected. Also TBL has zero cap space.

It doesn't look like they are in a good position right now at all. Yet they are still in a better position than the Leafs.

I agree they are relevant, but you can find those topics on any other Pens news source... but you'll never see them look toward trade targets or anything like that. At least Gunner proposes somewhat realistic trades to try and improve the Pens.

If you mean better as in points, I agree. State of the two franchises.......that's what I'm referring to

Leafs well on their way to another 9th place finish and middling draft pick... How'd that work out the past decade or so?

Babcock came about 5 years too early.... Wins in 2015 mean nothing...

I think the new TOR management is good. Doesn't mean they will get the team competitive in the near future. Pens don't look good right now, but they have 9 straight postseason berths and are looking better without ex-HC Johnston. If they wanted to rebuild, they could unload their top end talent and acquire an elite prospect pool overnight. So I fail to see how they aren't at least even with the Leaf organization.

EDIT: I do find it hypocritical that the Pens are criticized relentlessly for underachieving while TBL and ANA are ignored for being in as bad or worse conditions.

I agree with this, but its the markets that dictate it. TBL and ANA don't get nearly the amount of national exposure.. which is why they fly under the radar.

At least as far as Hockeybuzz goes, Tampa and Ducks blog has like 10 comments. While the Pens Blog routinely gets to a couple of hundred (at least) on game days.

If you go trolling on those other two blogs, chances are you're the only one there.

Both are good players for tanking purposes so I'm kinda glad neither plays much.

Yeah, if you're trying to tank for Matthews, why would you get rid of 2 of your worst players?!?
