Hawks made a statement by playing an up tempo skilled game and won many cups, now the league allows more clutching and grabbing which happens to go against a Hawk strength.
- eagle50

The Refs certainly are going back to Pre-Lockout officiating, but the Hawks are far from a speed team these days. LA also won 2 Cups and they are a muck +grind style team. So the NHL wants the Hawks, Rangers, Oilers, Predators, ect to lose and wants St. Louis and LA to win?? Come on man. I agree the officiating has been brutal and makes for less entertaining hockey, but it has absolutely nothing to do with the Hawks winning 3 Cups, or preventing them from winning another. Conspiracy theories can sometimes have merit, this one does not. Up until this season the Hawks were one of the least penalized teams in the league on an annual basis. That, and PP opportunities are the most telling ways to determine a "fix" from the NHL/Refs.

Really? I find the league has gotten so soft....soon it will be the ALL STAR game every night...no hitting or fighting.

Might as well take away their blades off their stick and put a hole in the puck.

And it seems to me that in the past they used to alternate year to year.Clutch one skate the next.I'm not saying that there is a conspiracy leveled at a particular team but the conspiracy of parity screws the hawks over IMO.

Lots of teams with bad D.

Salary isn't really that high, there is always one GM and coach out there who think they are the guy who can turn him around.

Even if he isn't picked up, he goes to Rockford and the closest he comes to the ice with the Hawks again is a black ace.

The hawks roster is upgraded as of a couple hours ago.

Al, what do you think the cost would be for one of the marquee rentals that will likely be available at the deadline?

Ladd, Buff, E. Staal

I have it pegged at a 1st and a top prospect.

You would think Dano and Pokka would get you something. Hawks are in a tough spot because no one is going them any favors.

I don't think the Hawks see Boedker as a rental. He is impending RFA, not UFA. I think a longer term commitment is a real possibility.

Not trying to call you out or anything JJ, but what GM does ANY other GM a "favor"? Every single GM has his team's best interest in mind and nothing else. Please give me an example of a time when a GM(other than Uncle Dale Tallon for Stan) "gave them a favor"...I just think the narrative of every GM against the Hawks is a bit overstated. I could be totally wrong, but I think every GM plays hardball with EVERY other GM....not just Stan Bowman bc the Hawks have won 3 Cups in 6 seasons and everyone is jealous.

Wonder what the chances are that Boedker goes to CO with the Hawks after they play AZ? He sure would make the Hawks a faster team-- -- but lethal?

K.

Probably wishful thinking on my part. I actually really don't care, if someone picks him up, think its like an extra 100K off the cap, so I guess its better, but I just want him off the team, if its in Rockford or somewhere else, doesn't' really matter to me.

Would like to see Gus playing every night and Rozy and Scuderi switching off between 6 and 7 dman.

Dano seems like too high a prospect to go for a rental

Rarely do that high of a prospect go at the TDL

FF, I don't think the Hawks would see Boedker as a rental. Fairly sure, in fact.

Would assume the ability to resign him to his next deal would dictate a bit on what the Hawks would give up.

I would also assume those talks would take place. Knowing you are re-upping him, would allow you to move a guy or two who you wouldn't normally.

Actually, did a bit more digging and I think you're right. HB Cap Central had him as RFA. Well, that explains a bit better why AZ might trade him and would point more to him being a rental. However, much can change between now and 7/1 for the Hawks. he is good, young, has upside and might want to play in Chicago. But AZ has his rights for now.

Pretty sure he's UFA, Sage. I was going by that too but found some other info.

http://www.azcentral.com/...e-year-contract/29816589/

He is, however, 26 years old. And whoever holds his rights up to 6/30 has the best chance to sign him.

Never gonna happen. The chemistry Huberdeau and Barkov have created amongst themselves cements Huberdeau in Florida for a long time. Maybe earlier this season that would be a thing.. but even then Dano isn't enough to get Huberdeau. Pass.
- Panthers88

I don't think the Panthers would take Dano for Huberdeau one for one. Most likely no dots connect on that unless the Panthers fell out of contention by late February—because everyone has a price.

JJ,

Great insight and some very nice players. I like Boedkerr but I am VERY intrigued by the former #3 overall pick Huberdeau. Bjugstad has been out and to maintain a +3 on the Panthers means that he is playing a responsible 200ft game. He would, however, be another pass-first player on a pass-happy team. Mikkal Boedker plays a much more north-south game which is what the Hawks need more of IMO. Also, anything coming to you about the validity of the Phaneuf to the Hawks rumor from this morning??

Nothing and my guy would have mentioned it if there was something to it. All he has talked about for several weeks are forwards, FWIW.
