Fairly accurate with the exception of Prust. He aint going anywhere. Brought in to compliment Dorsett and if Dorsett goes down with injury we have no one to step in. Prust stays. McCann Bo Virt Hutton Sedins Hansen should be the ONLY untouchables going into TDL. All else is fair game. - LordHumungous
I think if we are in the playoffs Prust stays , if we are not he is traded |

Possible but I can't get there. Even if we are a destitute team after TDL we have to have a little but of toughness to protect the kids out there and Dorsett can't do it all on his own. I just can't see JB leaving it all up to Dorsett like last year but could be wrong. |

Incredible first half highlights for Boeser. We haven't had a prospect this exciting in a long time. Decent size and speed, exceptional shot and vision |

Before this thread turns heated with some debate about Benning and his asset management or lack of trading, I will take the time to say Merry Christmas to all the regulars and visitors who are involved in the Canucks threads including Carol. Most of us will probably not be on tomorrow so please have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! |

Prust is easily replaced by Cole Cassels. If not then there are 50 other UFA's at a lower cap hit that will be willing to drop the mits and play that role for an NHL paycheck.
Speaking of Cole Cassels. Does anyone have a scouting report on him? I am very interested to know his progress especially after last years playoffs. |

Pretty much, struggling defensively as well.
Granted, he is playing with garbage bottom six players on a fairly average team.
Give him some time. As we have seen thus far with Shink and Gaunce, the first year of AHL play doesn't necessarily mean squat in the long run. |

Yup I am just saying anyone expecting him Or Subban to make the Canucks next year will be disappointed . They are still a long ways away
The only players NHL ready are Grenier Gaunce Fedun Shink and Friesen. I guess you can say Kenins also but I don't see him sticking around |

Agreed. Some guy on HF (Bad Goalie) who watches every Utica game noted:
How's Subban's defensive game? I've been hearing he still needs work down low, is he getting beat wide? slow? physically outmatched?
work down low - positioning down low is a real problem and he gets to chasing the puck and people.
getting beat wide - at least once a game
slow - on his turn he loses speed and is often the big reason he gets beat wide, has also tripped himself up on the turn
physically outmatched - this is obvious on many occasions
When facing outmanned rushes, especially 2 on 1s, he just backs in all the way to the goalie making himself useless in defense of the rush.
What's up with Cassels?
Slow, slow, slow. Can't make a pass. Gets run off the puck with ease. Physically manhandled. Wins 0 puck battles. Looks lost and out of place.
Feel for the kid because he was supposed to have some real talent. Was injured at the end of last season and didn't get enough off season training in, but it's Christmas and he has shown no signs of improvement. If anything he is going the other way. Maybe this becomes a lost season and he comes back next year a different player. It's not looking positive for him at the moment.
Not very encouraging

Yup . Jensen is a dud , but we have 5 NHL ready players and two spots on forward available and one spot on D . So I don't see a panic at this moment.
Next year Carl Neill should be on the Comets , and he is a guessing game at best. JB needs to get another close to ready Dman on the farm. They have brought in David Shields who can be used in a pinch. I don't see them having any faith in Pedan.
Treyemko is a mystery , but you can't put hope into a long shot.

Not this season he isn't. maybe in a few years when Cassels has developed but if you think Cassels can step in here and take Prusts role after TDL I'm not sure how you have convinced yourself of that. Cassels is nowhere near NHL play. Sure we amy be able to look at a cheaper option in the summer but pickins will be slim. Can't see Prust moving until next year if at all. |

Prust is not worth 2.5 . There are better options in the UFA pool. We are not a playoff team so I would try for a pick. I would also offer him 1.3 when he hits the open market for two years |

Still don't understand why they haven't played him on defense yet. Have they lost confidence in him and don't want to play him, anticipating his value will drop? Nah, doesn't make sense to me.
Benning must want to take a look at him before determining his future with the club. and with the injuries on the back end, he should of had that look by now. |

Once we firesale at TDL (hopefully) Prusts salary isn't going to matter. He fills a need for the remainder of the year. Brought here for a specific reason not to be moved at TDL. Next year anything can happen. |
