Serious question here. Is there a more useless player in the NHL than Chris Higgins? The "role" he's playing can be easily replaced and improved by a number of players on the farm.

We used to say he was a great penalty killer, but it has been just awful since he came back. No coincidence he was out of the lineup yesterday...

No, trade Vrbata, Horvat can feed Sven.

Yes, move Vrby and while they are at it, Higgy too. We want either great prospects or picks.

Result:

Keep Hansen with the twins - it is working and getting better over time.
Replace Vrby with Mcann. I know he is not a natural winger but he has a much better mcCannon than Vrby
Prust/crack/dorsy is proving to be an outstanding 4th line. Major aggressive, hardnosed bangers, they have the puck in the offensive end as much as any 1st line in the league.
That leaves Burr/Sutter/Virt as the hard to play against checkers with serious sting. Like playing against a hornets nest.
Kenins gets to ride the bench and fill in for any winger injury while McCann will fill in for an center injury.

This lets them run with 8 D. WD would park Weber and Beiga (yah, I know, you would rather see Bart parked). Beiga would be 1st call and weber the spare backup.

I can't think of anyone as useless as Higgins, especially considering he's making $2,500,000 a year.

Do you really think that Grenier and Gaunce represents an upgrade on Burrows/Virtanen/Kenins?????

I have no problem selling Burrows for the right price, but at this point he is still a critical cog to the nucks. His PK and checking skills remain top notch. He still remains the 2nd or 3rd best option with the twins. But if you got a mid to high 1st in play - take and run.

But let's face it, on a current value to the team, I would rank the 5 players in this order:
Burrows
Virtanen
Kenins
Gaunce
Grenier

To me playing the 2 Gs over the over 3 just doesn't make sense. Afterall, it will be WD/JB making that decision and less NHL experience = more sit time.

Right now yes.
I think JV could use some time in Jr. he is still very young

Burrows is being paid 4.5 mil and that is way too much for a PK guy. His time is coming to an end

Ok, let's give him a couple of weeks - at the under 20s.
then he better come back with a fire in his eyes and the confidence to kick Kane onto his sorry little ass (with the puck under it as Kane (or whoever) slides into the Chicago goal, of course)

Burrows time here is done, as evident last night. He has no respect within the officiating world, and the team is penalized because of him.

Yes he brings is every night, but the negatives out weigh the positives. Time for JB to get what he can at this stage.

Not to mention 4.5 for 3 goals is not smart spending

I am not a fan of Kennins so far. I don't think he brings enough energy or hits. He really isn't an instigator .

Conspiracy ?

Was Higgins not on the ice yesterday because of injury or they didn't want to take a chance on injury before some type of movement
