Winning a game vs cbj doesn't mean they're back. Put 5+ in a row and we'll see.

How many players must they impale in those five games for you to be happy Mr. Vlad?

To be fair, he has a point. CBJ, Arizona, and Toronto are probably the three worst teams in the league. This past game was encouraging, but the Pens have had several encouraging games this season only to let us down soon after. All we can do is hope and pray.

CBJ is the worst team in the league, but they have had our number for over a year now. They play a brand of hockey that typically we have trouble with and they had no answer for us. Pucks went in, players loosened up and that will carry forward.

We had that Penguins swagger that I havent seen at all this year.

In ten games you go ahead and call me out if Im wrong.

Kesler is playing to get the coach fired... but the guy plays balls out in the playoffs... Pittsburgh could have used a guy like that the last few seasons...

You have a GM who built a team to play a style of hockey that hasn't been played since 1992, they are soft small and old not exactly a recipe for success in the 2015 NHL.

But yeah bring up a small defenseman who can't play defense, that will fix this team!

So you're ready to hand the cup to the Pens after 1 win eventhough they are still 3 spots out of a wild card? Put the cart before the horse much?

For those that don't have access...

Had a fascinating conversation this week about Dan Bylsma’s final couple of years behind the Penguins’ bench, and it shed light on something I hadn’t previously understood: Why, if the people over his head were displeased with his system, did it never change?

The answer, according to one individual eminently in the know, was that Bylsma flat-out wouldn’t listen to anyone. No, not even to Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle.

The part that was most irksome to the owners was the same that seemed to irk most in the public, that being the spread-all-over-creation breakouts. Those above Bylsma recognized that the breakouts, one, stunted his own star players’ speed by having them catch passes at a standstill and, two, were laughably easy to defend when a team had time to practice it. Such as, you know, a best-of-seven playoff series.

Bylsma would occasionally be told of this dissatisfaction, and the system would be modified … but never for more than a game or two.

Some coaches really do forget that the objective is to win, not to win your way.

DK did a lot or reporting on Bylsma. There's at least a handful more that aren't exactly flattering for Disco.

Interesting stuff and I'm definitely going to have to reconsider my position on the DB era after digesting this. I wish DK wasn't so good, he puts out too much content imo and it makes it difficult to keep up.

Since 1992? The GM built a team to play the style that Detroit dominated with in the early 2000s, that Chicago has won 3 of the last 4 Cups with and that TB played in the Cup finals with last year. To correct your post, "You have a GM who built a team to play a style of hockey that has been effective in the modern NHL".

I hated Kesler with a passion until I watched the 2011 series against Nashville. Kesler single handedly beat the Predators, and he beat them playing Nashville brand hockey.
I respect Kesler on the ice in the playoffs maybe more than any other player.

Its also the style of play our players want to play. They want to play fast, hyper forchecking run and gun hockey. Better to find a way to make that work than try to force them to play a style they dont want. MJ learned that the hard way and MS seems to have figured it out.

Merry Christmas Pens Fans, from afar . . . Okinawa, Japan! We are everywhere! Here's to hoping the Pens turn it around and build off this past game. Young guns a blazing, keep the youth movement alive! Kessel absolutely should definitely be playing without Crobsy AND Malkin.

Read the LeBrun part of the link about his 10 suggestions. I like the PP running full minutes even if a goal is scored, but (it's a huge BUT), would the zebs be even more reluctant to call penalties especially if the game was in the balance??
