We do have 2 or 3 more gp's than most of the teams under us and the spread is a point or two. I think my money would be on Buffalo or Carolina myself - neem55

Toronto has been competitive and winning games lately even with that terrible roster. They might start to climb. If Canucks get one more key injury we will be finishing last in the league especially after the trade deadline. Bring on Mathews!! |

Mathews would be a huge surprise. I would be happy with a top 5 pick. With that said I would also be happy if this team started looking better then a mid range AHL team. |

To me this is the year to miss the playoffs simply because we have like 5 UFAs and two of those Vrbata and Hamhuis(if willing to move to a contender) could bring in some solid picks or prospects. If we were willing to eat half the salary it might even open things up to even more to teams which should drive up the price.
Id even try eating half of Higgins salary this year and next in hopes of at least getting any pick possible for him.
@lefty - especially the last month or so the team seems to have really bought in. |

I am super curious to see what Benning does with a slightly bigger cap hit, and a bunch of money to spend this summer. I would love to see him sell off our UFA's at the TDL and maybe move some aging salary (with some salary retention, I dont care). |

I have bought 2 hoodies and one jersey sporting the Orca logo. I am doing my part to support the franchise |

We could have anywhere from 15-25 mil in cap space next year . Bringing in Gaunce and Grenier will ease the cap replacement of Burrows and Higgins. I would hang on to 10 mil of the cap space by some fluke chance Jamie Benn being a UFA the following year. |

I'm sorry but I just don't see Poile spending $14M for two and a half years for two 35 year olds. - Canada Cup
You mean the same Poile who traded for 33 year old Peter Forsberg who was on his last legs?
Incidentally he traded 2 former 1st round picks (Parent, Upshall) along with a 1st and 3rd round pick...for a UFA.
Although i don't think we'll actually trade the Sedins, i'm not against the idea.
Nsh would actually be a really good fit.
Not many teams are built from the net out like Nashville, have the cap space and the need for top line players.
The Sedins would provide 2/3 of a top line, obviously have chemistry and are still top 20 scorers.
Plus Nsh would not just get UFAs, they get a couple seasons to tutor younger players and/or move them at another deadline if need be. |

Miller, burrows and higgins all off the books by the end of next year things might change lots in the next 1 and half years.
Utica should be interesting next year. You would think the Canucks have to sign Demko this season and get him in the AHL for 2 reasons. The main being if he plays his sr. season you then risk loosing him for nothing as a UFA and the second being if he plays well enough you could then deal Miller at the deadline, then roll with a tandom of Markstrom and Demko moving forward.
Id also have to take a serious look at getting Boeser playing in Utica as quick as possible too. |

exactly....starting to right the ship left when carlyle left. Goes to show how good carlyle is. Hope TL sees the need and gets him.
also goes to show even a poopty roster can win with good coaching staff. Ours sucks |

I gotta say I'm absolutely wanting higgins gone....he just isnt what he used to be and is the goat too many nights. Taking up space for another guy that could be much better.
Burrows I say is incredibly useful still and we'd see a void without him.....its just the price tag. If only we could somehow shave it down to 2M.
There was a rumor nichuskin is available. The player we were set to draft instead of Bo.

I agree with 100% of that. Markstrom / Demko tandem really sounds great and markstrom will likely be hitting his awesome years when Demko is ready to be here.
Boeser looks friggin amazing as well. Get him here asap |
