I mean they are a big physical team and want to play as such which I completely understand but with Torts at the helm they've seemed to cross the line with a lot more frequency.

Of course. Torts is gonna be an antagonistic a$$hole. And his team is in the dumps so it doesn't really matter if they take bad penalties/get suspensions either.

I'd love to see the NHL dock Torts big time and donate the money to charity or something, this guy has no class whatsoever and clearly toes the line and most often crosses it on a regular basis. Why does he get protected?

In all honesty, I don't think it has to do with Torts at all. Dubinsky has always done this stuff and with how bad the team has been the last two years it seems to be frustration boiling over. He has just gotten away with it to this point and when that happens it will gradually continue to get worse until there are reprocussions.

The Jenner knee on knee was not good but it wasnt vicious by any means. I think it looked worse than it was because Malkin went flying and the collision caused Jenner's leg to fly out. He could have tried to avoid it better but it didnt look malicious.

The Prout cross-checks were not good either, but Plotnikov ran him half from behind before the puck got to the corner with less than a minute left in a game they were winning by 3 goals. You are being biased if you act like Plotnikov is just a victim in the situation. He got crosschecked in the back and arm, he will have a couple bruises and he will be fine.

You are being insane if you act like Plotnikov did anything wrong there. I don't care if there are only a few seconds left. It is during game play and he is making a hockey play. If Prout doesn't want to get hit there he can just let the puck go around the boards and allow the opposition to get the puck like he normally does.

I see this similarly to the Weber/Zetterberg incident. Like Zetterberg, Plots did ride him in hard from behind. That said, it was, if anything, a tad over a normal hit and, like Weber, Prout went way over the line and should be suspended.

Plotnikov is a 4th line winger with 0 goals trying to prove to a new coach he belongs. He makes a pretty clean hit IMO I get the circumstances 3 goal game under a minute blah blah blah but I'm making that hit if I'm him as well.

rust and wilson reassigned.

its a salary cap move, why leave them up at an NHL salary when they can be sent back down and recalled up after the break.

AFAIK, no additional discipline for Prout by the NHL besides the double minor during the game.

Like I said...if anything, it's a tad bit over the line, not even worthy of a penalty (although RW wants hits like this eliminated). I had no problem with the hit.

If memory serves there was no cross check or pushing motion by Plotnikov on Prout into the boards. It was simply a high speed collision.

If he wants to show the coach he belongs he should be making plays before the game is already sealed. I have no problem at all with Plotnikov making that play but you have to expect retaliation after bouncing a guys head off the glass in that situation. Prout went overboard but it's not like he went after him unsolicited.

I don't really see the big deal with this. I think he should be suspended, but I doubt it will happen. I am much more concerned with Jenner's potentially deliberate knee on knee contact with Malkin than this cross checking. Cross checking happens hundreds of times every game. Prout just did his repeatedly for no reason. If it were up to me, it would be punished but we all know the NHL is too stupid to improve their product.
- jfkst1

Surprised to see RW make a post out of this. Agree that kind of crosscheck happens a dozen times a game around the net, but maybe not in such rapid succession--maybe that's the criteria for a penalty? Honestly, I was surprised there was a penalty called, or they didn't give some sort of random even up call to Plot.

Like I said, that is what the NHL wants. There's no other way to look at it. The Pens better get on board and get some bigger players. Sestito would be in my lineup every time the Pens play the Jackets.

I really look forward to the day when the NHL owners lose a truck load of money in a law suit and all of this BS becomes exhibits for the plaintiffs.

Plotnikov had an awkward looking hit on Atkinson a minute before the play (2:18 left, to be exact), Atkinson was setting up the breakout behind the net and Plotnikov swooped in and took his legs out. Maybe that's why Prout came after Plotnikov?

Its still what it is, happens every time an AHLer is on a call up when a break comes up, they get sent back down. Thats not to say that Sid and Letang arent coming back but its just the process. After the holiday if there is a need for them they will come back. This isn't punishment of any kind.

Get a life. U support the dirtiest team in hockey this year. Ask anyone on any board. It doesn't make it any better when you pop in here and make insults like a 6 year old..

Even your own blogger called them ridiculous incidents...and thought they deserved some suspensions! But yeah, you're right!

BTW no suspension to Prout! So yeah about trying to reduce head trauma let's have another meeting in Florida!

You didn't even read your own blag disagreeing with no further punishment? He even admitted your team played a very dirty game last night. The fact that you proudly support their decision is astounding in its own regard. If it was the other way around, I'm sure you'd be first in line in the "suspend plotnikov forever" train.

Guys, I think we should have more respect for Coach Torts' Hockeybuzz account. He is an NHL coach, after all...
