Just out of curiosity, you are aware that the average one on one collision between linemen in football is more violent than the average hockey check, right? - Victoro311
I never watch NFL unless it's highlights of the Train!! (so none), & I don't get the charging your head at an opposing player?? Trying to break your own neck???
Are there any serious injuries from those types of hits? Neck injuries I mean? Serious question. |

That's what I was thinking, and not to be a Richard but to me if that was a play off game no one would of said a thing. poop gets heated like that every now and again but I have seen a lot worse those are sturdy cross checks but I have seen similar battles out front of the net in. - blizzzard
Any deliberate blow to the head or neck should be a suspendable offense to protect the players. Anything less than that means players will have a potential for head/brain injury. And brain injuries can result in permanent irreversible damage. Just because you are used to it is not a valid argument. |

I don't see the need to compare and contrast them. These are pretty black and white scenarios here. Both are against the rule book, both could lead to injuries, both should be punished. - Victoro311
I'm just curious as to what he thinks that's all. It appears cross checking someone in the neck repeatedly is ok with him, but slipping a lazy elbow over someone's chin is what in comparison? |

This is worse than fighting in my opinion but fighting is the big no no due to concussions - cross checking someone around the head area won't cause concussion will it?
I'm agreeing with you 100%! |

If this no-talent arse-clown is allowed back in the NHL then the moron twins up top should be impeached! This is insane! This entire team is a collection of dirt bags including their coach!

Things about last night.
Like the use of the Wilkes Barre guys, about time.
Murray in net gives us the best chance to win with MAF out, good call.
Like players sticking up for players, God knows the league or the refs don't give a crap.
Malkin is a born leader, what else can you say.
Blue Jerk-it's are dirty, asshats who deserve all the poor play and coaching and F them and the bus they rode in on.
I am starting to like Mike Sullivan.
PP looking better as is Kessel, both showing some heart. About time.
F the Jerk-it's.

Would you say the action was worse than Torres? Not talking whether or not you've seen it before, would you say cross checking the neck of an opposing player repeatedly is more violent than a little clip ax you skate past? - Aussiepenguin
I'll have to re watch the video but I think he could of crossed checked him harder if that was the purpose. i guess that doesn't make it not viscous he wasn't trying to kill him either. |

I'm not arguing anything man. I agreed I thought he wouldn't get a suspension that doesn't mean I won't be wrong and it doesn't mean I don't think it's worthy of suspion. I don't disagree with what your saying either but like I just said in my last post my opinion is he could of done worse and he could of cross checked him harder then he did, I do think they where solid shots don't get me wrong there. |

First, at least this one is more "assault-ish" than the Dubinsky "assault" on Crosby. I still don't think it's assault. To me, what Jesse Boulerice and Chris Simon did was "assault." But still, this deserves 10 games. Doubt he gets more than 2. |

Could Torres say the same thing? I'm only curious as to what you would expect deserves a suspension? Appeared pretty violent & was repeated many times - even could say Prout lost control?? In that case it opens all sorts of crazy poop. Torres single action & late. Wasn't repeated??

If the NHL ever wants to catch up with the NFL in terms of revenue (well close the gap) they need to improve their product. That means creating offense like how the NFL has eliminated a lot of contact in the passing game and getting serious about protecting star players and lesser players too. Both are required to go from a tier 2 sports to a tier 1 sport. Their is a reason why top NFL/MLB/NBA players make 25 a year and top NHL players make 10. |

I flagged this post as an accident. I apologize.
I just don't think the NHL will ever catch up. They're a bunch of Canadian/European guys skating on ice. No matter how you paint that picture, it will never have the appeal of the other leagues. It just won't. |

You guys are crazy. I said I agreed with a poster who said he didn't think there would be a suspension at all. The poster didn't say because it wasn't viscous just that they thought it wouldn't get a suspension. I then continued to say I had seen worse and that things get heated like that evey now and again so are you saying it doesn't ? I even then said in a later post that I thought it wouldn't get a suspension because of the league and not because it wasn't violent enough to warrant one lol but because I like the Devils you and some other think are acting like I'm calling the pens player a wussy and saying that was harmless. I did say he could of done it harder and after re watching the video only the first check could be argued as deliberate shots to the head the player was bent over and ally brushed of his shoulder and then to his helmet or stick. If he got hit in the neck as violently as some are saying he would of dropped and been carted off. The intentions are dangerous but he didn't start swinging his stick like kessel or like Simon and he didn't just throw his gloves off and sucker punch the first player who came near him like tootoo so although he lost his cool he didn't loose it completely. That's my opinion and don't take the rest for more then it is. |

Interesting how the NHL Network skipped the assault at the end of the game, and glossed over the knee-job by Caitlyn Jenner. |

Well if done properly that sort of tackle is safer for the guy getting tackled because it eliminates the possibility of head targeting. As always, there are injuries though. I feel like most commonly it happens when the guy getting tackled lowers his body brace for the hit, the tackler doesn't see it, and the two collide helmets. Those get pretty nasty. |

Read my posts in a non aggressive, tired curious voice & you will realise that I'm only curious as to what your thoughts are on what should/could be considered a suspendable offence?? Not picking an arguement & has nothing to do with who you go for.
Sorry I didn't even finish your post as I think you have gone on an alternative course to where we were originally heading. |

Some of them look like the guy torpedoing his head could at any time break his own neck. |

Prout will get 2-3 games for that which I think is fair. Not sure why everyone is freaking out over this... that wasn't nearly as bad as Dubinsky targeting Crosby's neck and breaking his stick over it. Plotnikov came in high and from Prout's back and put his head off the glass. Not making an excuse for Prout's response but I don't blame him for being pissed and going after him. |
