If we hang on to expiring contracts it will be the same journey - VANTEL
No. They handed the team to their high draft picks and then tried to sign second (third, fourth, fifth?) tier veterans afterwards. I'm not advocating letting contracts expire for nothing, but I am against just giving the kids the keys and hoping they can figure it out. |

You do know trading the Sedins you would get 2 first round picks a good young Dman and a good young forward.
We have 2 very good players in the top ten, but our entire game and style changes when they play. It is a very rewarding style for them but not great for talented players looking for opportunities.
Not only that but the Sedins have zero chance of a cup playing here |

I don't know that. I have no idea what they would get us. There isn't a lot of precedent for moving two $7 million twins that are in their mid thirties but still producing at an elite level. If you can get that then you have to consider it, but that's not a sure thing.
But even if you can get that, my original point still remains. Who is mentoring all those shiny draft picks? |

So we are paying 14 Mil to mentor? Babcock doesn't even make that much. This team has a lot of wasted money in mentoring
Hamhuis Burrowa Higgins Eddler Miller Twins . Half thr salary cap are mentors . How many do you really need?

Do you honestly think that's all they are doing? They aren't Higgins.
As far as how many do you need, I'll take the two producing at an elite level. |

Two producing at an elite lever have a huge value to a contending team , not so much to a bottom feeder. We are now in the bottom 7 of the league. Hanging on to two huge trading chips makes no sense. To them or us |

Like I said, if you can get what you think you can then you have have to consider it, but 1) I'm not sure you could, and 2) I'm not sure it's as simple as move veterans, add draft picks, success.
With the Sedins or without, we're not winning the cup, so I'm not really sweating their cap hit, to be honest. In my opinion, they are not done contributing, and not just points.
We're just going in circles at this point. I get where you're coming from, I just disagree. No biggie. |

Never said it is instant success.
They will not win a championship here. They take our team from a bottom 7 pick to a 15-22 pick . They take time away from Bo JM . If you truly look at it it doesn't help either party staying.
If you did get Seth Jones Fiala and two draft picks. That is a hell of a good start.
Canucks would probably have to keep money but you can get a hell of a replacement for 10 mil |

Face it for the good of the team is it better to finish 23 or draft middle of the pack?
Plus the assets we get back.
You know I'm right
Stop thinking how Edmonton did things look at Ottawa instead |

Ottawa? Didn't they let Alfredsson's contract run out? |

Maybe they can keep a Sedin and trade a Sedin. Compromise. |

Glad to hear it man. We're all pulling for Booner. It's not the same here without him. |

You ignored the logic of his post.
You always agree that the Sedins will retire as Canucks and will do so deservedly yet you beat the same dead horse, day in and day out about trading the twins.
They're not going anywhere and they don't owe the organization anything more than retiring as two of the best players, on ice and in the community, ever.
There is going to be a few trying years ahead of us with filling the void left by previous regimes. Trading the Sedins is not going to accelerate that. It's becoming insulting to their legacy. |

I know JB said he has no intention of moving them . It is a long long shot at best. It is a sentimental decision which they have earned . But it is the wrong decision.
It is just friendly discussion.
You can't deny 2 first round picks, two good young players , 3 bottom five finishes , and 10 mill in space is not worth at least talking about.
I liked the Canucks style a lot more in the last two games than I have all year |
