luke schenn had at least three on one shift - -davies-
What Couturier did on that 2-on-1, trying to pass through a defender to a guy who was clearly not open, should always be a considered a giveaway

Canada's best player easily in the two pre-tourney games thus far: Ottawa 67 Travis Konecny. - Jsaquella

Ha! Sometimes, yeah. Knowing when to shoot is one of the most underrated things in that sport, and one thing a few guys on the roster struggle with, including Couturier

Huh. I didn't see that. Maybe Couturier is sneaky-mean
I thought he played a little soft last night, is all. Love so much about his game, but he could use a little more Keith Primeau in him

I also thought he played great as well...he has potential to be exactly what the Flyers lack ... true # 1 cornerstone franchise D man. - landros 2
Both he and provy have that potential. |

No argument here.... They changed him to a more scoring line today... Now playing with Lawson Crouse...excited for Boxing Day . - landros 2
These tourneys are so good for the young players development. It's a dog fight to get on Canada's roster and then you have the pressure of all of canada watching you. |

I can't remember if it was John LeClair or someone else who, after a game where he took a beating in the slot and the point men wouldn't or couldn't get the puck to the net, who basically said that it's pointless for guys to be out there if they don't know when or how to get it on the net, and I do believe it was Gretzky who said that while you won't score on every shot, 100 percent of the shots you don't take aren't going in
Voracek and Couturier are pass-first players, which isn't a crime. But sometimes, the best play is to put the puck on net with the intention of scoring, not as the fallback option but the primary option. Got to know when to put that thing on net |

That's not a good idea. Some kneeing penalties are accidental. - MJL
Shouldn't matter. Are all face masks intentional? Get serious about it |

Yet, when I posted his GA60 on the other thread, you made the comment that it was too small of a sample size before deleting it. While Manning's possession numbers are not great for his usage and deployment, they're also not awful, at 49.10 at ES. Whatever metric we want to use, I view Manning as a 6/7 defenseman, and with all the other defenseman healthy, he should be at the bottom of the depth chart. I think he is a serviceable depth defenseman. - MJL
Shot attempts are way more frequent than goals so guess which stat needs a larger sample size? |

Gretzky obviously didn't know it at the time, but he was fully endorsing corsi/fenwick. |

For sure
Hell, 10 years later, if he'd done it to Dave Poulin, he would of found himself having a face to face with Brown's or Tocchet's fists. |

Dubinsky should have absolutely been tossed. How is that NOT intent to injure? What was he intending to do when he stuck his knee out? Send Voracek's nutsack a Christmas greeting? - johndewar
I honestly think the officials are referreeing by the teams standings or perception of the team, in that they are not high in the standings so they are treated with less care.
Before it was getting penalties based on teams rep, now its not protecting them since they are not an elite team.

They both need a larger sample size. You don't take one stat over another, you look at everything together, and stats should only be a small part of the equation anyway.

So the quantity of data shouldn't impact how many games is a sufficient sample size to make a conclusion? |

I wonder if there is any chance you could swap BSchenn and AMac for Jeff Skinner? Now before you throw out the old Skinner is always injured excuse you've gotta realize that he's played 70+ games in each of the last two seasons. And while his cap hit is a bit high for his production you're getting rid of AMac who you are presently getting zero from at all. Canes get a fairly comparable forward and a #4 D man for nothing. Lord knows the cap room isn't an issue for the Canes. - hereticpride
Interesting idea. Skinner may have bounced back too high for it to work now, though.

49% CF is very poor when he gets 59% OZ starts. |

Ugh. I can't go into another year with Raffl in the top 6. They need an upgrade there in a big way. They desperately need to put someone there that is going to help that line score at 5 on 5. I don't know if that player is in this draft or available via trade but I just can't stomach another year of Raffl there.
