No b schenn is a center. As soon as the flyers figure that out the better we will be
- jmdodgeser4

There is no evidence that suggests that B Schenn is better at center than at the wing. His skill set and his strength as a player, also suggests that he is better suited to play the wing, than he is at center. The Flyers have him in the right spot in my opinion.

I didn't say it still shouldn't be a penalty, I said all kneeing penalties shouldn't automatically be a major penalty, just as all high sticks are not automatically a major penalty.

There has to be a way to separate the severity of actions. The more harm an action causes, the more severe the punishment should be. I agree that Dubinsky made a dangerous play that is suspension worthy, but whether or not an injury occurs, has to be part of the equation. It's the same way for high sticking, charging, elbowing, checking from behind, etc.
- MJL

Yeah, I see your point, but the NHL seems to base punishment SOLELY on the result, and that is what I have a problem with. Even if an injury does not occur, when a player blatantly makes the type of hit that Dubinsky made last night, the offender needs to be suspended.

Agreed. I don't think he has the playmaking vision, nor the defensive game to play center, I like him best at RW. The problem is that the Flyers are overloaded with guys who are most effective on the right side: Voracek, Simmonds, Schenn, Read, and, probably by next season, Konecny. This is why I'd like to see them try and move Schenn for a legit top 6 LW.

I think what you're saying, and I think I agree with, is that don't base whether the player should be suspended or not, on the result and if there is an injury or not. If you deem the play to be malicious, and illegal, then suspend the player. Then take into account how much damage it caused, and how severe the injury is, to determine the length of the suspension. That's where I think they get it wrong.

Dubinsky clearly and deliberately lifted his leg up to catch Voracek because he was getting past him. That's a dangerous hit.

Here is a trade I would propose at the deadline:

To Buffalo: B. Schenn, Hagg, Philly's 2nd rounder in 2016 and Vinny with 50% retained by Philly

To Philly: Evander Kane and Buffalo's 4th rounder in 2016

I think the Flyers would be slightly overpaying for Kane, hence the inclusion of Vinny and half of his contract in the deal.

Thoughts?

I wouldn't have a problem with that. I also think if Voracek can continue to play well on the left side, that would be big for the Flyers and their current lineup.

A lot of irony to this game.

Voracek takes cheap shot, comes back with a stronger game with the tying goal. Simmonds pounds the player who dishes out the dirty hit, sits for nearly an entire period, comes back to keep the team alive in the shootout. However the guy who should have been thrown out of the game scorers shootout winner.

Wasn't one of our worst efforts but a better result was there for the picking but we ran into a pretty good young goaltender.

If Jake continues to be effective on the left side, why not, at some point, try:

Jake-G-Schenn
Read-Couts-Simmonds
Raffl-Laughton-Gagner

Gagner to me is the weak link. They really need another skilled winger. If they had that player, Read could move to the Laughton line on the right side, and a more dynamic speedy winger could play on the left side, with Couturier, if they had that player.

On another subject....Sanheim and Koneckny have looked great today...Sanheim is such a smooth, fast player...Koneckny is a tireless worker with outstanding vision.

Konecny playing another great game today in the pre tourney vs Czech Republic. Ferraro has been raving about his game and they just showed a small highlight reel of him today. Great chances and just made a really nice clean hit. He's a lock for the squad IMO.

I doubt Schenn, Hagg & a 2nd are enough to get Kane out of Buffalo.

I want to see him throughout this tourney but he's got a solid game at this level. Skilled, works like a demon and not afraid to hit. I can't imagine hexy would rush him, but I think we've got a player with this guy.

He's a lock for sure....Sanheim should be but Lumley didn't play him a lot and he was a healthy scratch yesterday ...Politics of Hockey Canada.
