Because man, everyone on our team sucks at it. - dbot
You have to leave the Sedins on the bench in OT. |

Which at the beginning of the year was so odd because one would think the Sedins would have a field day in 3/3. But reality is they are just too slow and lack the defensive abilities to do it. |

We really miss a solid faceoff guy that can win us the puck and give the team possession.
Add it to the wishlist of things we need for the team.

despite the SO loss it's great to see the scoring spread out over the team. Sven is starting to score! Hanson continues to score even on a different line.
pluses here aside from the point earned.
God I hate the SO tho. |

Shall we go beyond 60 minutes, the SO is our only chance. OT sure as hell hasnt achieved a (frank)ing thing. |

Wondering how much the team is practicing the 3v3?
There was some puck possession in ot but when they get hemmed into their own end and then run out of steam, don't know what they can do. |

Personally, I'd rather they practice their penalty kill, if you can call it that.
But I guess if you were to start listing the things they need to work on you'd be here awhile. |

Some of the mistakes on the pk appear to be the dmen both going to one side or the corner, leaving a guy open at the side of the net or around there. We do have some inexperienced dmen.
and they likely don't have time to practice with all the travel and now holidays.
that was a weird game. some of the officiating, but that might just be the norm.

PK always seems to be an adventure, someone goes to help someone else and they leave someone open. Guess they are trying to help but it often ends the same. |

It's amazing the gap between top and bottom in the pool. The top 6 are way ahead of the rest.
Borowiecki got me 20 pims today.
Hit looked clean to me, not sure why he got tossed. |

Our league is so bad that we lost today and still moved up 4 spots and into the playoffs.

Thats right....and people wonder why I say the D has NO system in place.
and if Im wrong and there is, however made that crud up needs to be immediately canned, burned alive then peed on.
either way it's an incredible deficiency by the coaching staff. So they are to blame... either you installed no system and give players 0 instruction or the instructions given are brutally bad.
Lidster must go....And for those who didn't believe it when I said it last season, look at it now....D is far, far worse than last season. Give him the boot...Or possibly rotate the staffs assignments to someone new |

Maybe the problem is coaching, maybe it's the fact that the Cancucks have one of the least talented Ds in the league; probably it's both.

Elder and Tanev are 3/4 Dman and we have them playing 1/2 . Just because they are our best doesn't make them 1/2. Same as Higgins in not a second liner and Hansen is not a first liner. |

A good coach can take less talented players and win with them. And esp w D it is so reliant on positioning and a well informed system of play. That is missing here on this team clearly. You need to know how to play around your goaltender, everyone should know where rebounds are expected to be directed to and expected to be picked up. We also have NO breakout plan, the worst for it in the NHL.
Some here blame the players but yet we have new players coming in every single year with the same consistent result. That comes from above....the system of play or lack there of in our case.
But yes, he do have a lack of better D here. So while it certainly helps to have better players, point is we could be doing way way better with what we have if we actually had a D blueprint onboard. |

Babcock is a good coach, but he's not doing much with less talented players. And I'm not sure how you can say the results have been the same year after year. If you mean we haven't one a cup, well yeah, I can't argue that. But other than the Torts year and this one, most likely, we've been a solid regular season team that was competitive in most games. And our PK has been consistently good other then this year, including under Lidster last season when it finished second in the league. That wasn't an accident.
I'm not defending Lidster, but it's too simplistic to lay all the blame at his feet. Benning deserves his share and the players as well. It's been a team effort, IMO. |

It's bite the bullet year. There's too many holes and not enough assets to fill them. You could replace the underperformaning vets with guys from the farm and they wouldn't be worse and might even be better, but not better enough to make any real difference. Honestly, if you are rooting for a higher draft pick then Higgins should be your favourite player. |
