Yes we have. The problem is, Burrows apparently can't move on from it and continues to chirp, continues to be called out, and continues to have a target on his back from players across the league. Like I said, apart from his work ethic (which I will admit, he brings it every night and almost every shift), he is a player who earns the amount he does based off having incredible line mates over the years. His lack of production off of the top line is an indicator of that. We have rid ourselves of Kesler, rid ourselves of Cooke, and now I believe it's time to cut our losses with Burrows. - Codes1087

It's time not only from a personal perspective but from a player perspective as well. |

I only want to get rid of him because he is a versatile yet declining asset that could help a contender. What happens on the ice is the game within the game that we aren't privy to. Some relish the role of playing the villain on the ice, but are gentlemen off it (not saying that's Burrows, but guys will do what it takes to make those millions) |

His best years are WAY behind him. Back when he was a PK specialist with Kesler and the top line with the Sedins. That Burrows is long gone. Cut your losses now and retain half of his salary for a pick. |

Very easy to say as an outsider looking in. While I would agree that Political Correctness has gone over the top in the last 5 or 6 years, one would argue that once graduated from high school, one would hope to mature past the point of using derogatory words or phrases that may offend people, not for backlash they may receive, but to become more mature and a decent human being. |

Not to mention that the workplace is much different then school, it comes down to money. Are you going to jeporadize your livelihood and earning potential by being a Richard? That said PC has gone too far in some instances, and I think we should go back to the Golden Rule of Thumb: Treat others how you expect them to treat you. |

Im glad you got my point about PC going way too far. I do believe there is also a certain amount of decent respect that should be given as well....like you mentioned....maturity.
I agree with a poster from page 1 that concusions get a 1 game suspension and disregarded but hurt someones feelings and its huge news. THAT right there is a serious problem. |

You could not be more right. I had a high school teacher whom had a gay child. He re-iterated each day the importance of leaning away from using "that is so gay" or "fag" or "homo" and at the time, we laughed and thought it was over the top. Never-the-less we all stopped and preached the importance of not using words that MAY offend people, more or less to become better human beings than being offensive to other people. It just happened to turn out that 9 years after I graduated, my younger brother came out and the amount of remorse I had felt after reminiscing how many times I used homophobic words and phrases, not because I actually meant them, but because in high-school they become words of habit. Either way, I understand how PC has gone over the top in recent years, but people don't realize the heaviness of their words and how they CAN effect people. My brother is the best man in my wedding next August and my best friend, and to this day the guilt I feel saying those things out of habit in front of my brother is something I will have a tough time getting over. |

The problem isn't that the words are hurting people, it's that people are starting to take things out of context and are looking to be offended. Someone is always going to find something someone said offensive, even if it wasn't intended that way and nobody else is offended by that. There is a happy medium that can be found, some people like to live in the extremes. |

great story.
I dont believe anyone should be conducting themselves in such a poor way either. Respect your fellow man.
I remember saying once that something was retarded...a lady who apparently had a disabled child at home took offense even though it wasn't anything to do with the conversation....no meaning or making fun of anyone....kid wasnt there either. Way too over sensitive, which was my point. It's gone too far. Always watch every word you say because theres some chance someone overhearing you might, could, quite possibly, slight chance be offended. Be sure to walk on egg shells at every moment. Screw that.
You'd think guys blocking shots on the PP and getting hit w stray pucks would be a little tougher though....esp at NHL level. Go for stitches and surgeries but 3 words and youre crying in the showers?
This is a good case for fighting in hockey....guys that cross the line gets their asses handed to them. No one cries after and its over....like men. |

This is exactly the case.
But my final comments on the Burrows will be is that I really don't care what is said on/off the ice these guys are grown men and should be able to take it...just saying that moving forward we need to shed Burrows image. Just like we did with the tools Lou and Kesler it's time to move on from Burrows. We are going in a different direction the next 3-5 years and we don't need any of his crap following the team around I'm talking media-wise and dressing room-wise. Get him the hell outa here. |

Its tough though because I used "that is so gay" and "you fag" all the time to my buddies and brother growing up, that the words had ZERO meaning behind them, but little did I know were very offensive. I think until we can put ourselves in a situation where, we know someone very close or we have a family member who is affected by words that often people group within the "PC" group, we don't really realize. As a 28 year old male, I know that telling my friends or hockey team mates not to use homophobic slurs will do no good and will fall on deaf ears, but I can definitely say that is not an easy thing to hear when you have a family member who you know would be affected by them.

I would but Tim's coffee has taken a nose dive here...it's god awful.
Second Cup has been a decent alternative but still pricey.
No Starbucks near where I work so have to stick to McDiks coffee which is pretty good. |

Well I'm Jewish so I don't celebrate Christmas and I'm to cheap to go to Starbucks.
To prove I'm not a cold hearted bastard I'm off to go make walnut fudge for my nieces. |
