Why do it in the final year? If you're not doing it this year or next then forget about it
- VANTEL

Or second to last year. Guess it depends on the rate of return and the pending draft year but mid contract they probably wouldn't return to retire. It would be nice to see them get a shot and still retire here. Closer to the end of their contract makes it easier

Good other than they should be switching Horvat/McCann.

Horvat needs Hansen in the worst way. Vrbata and baertchi ain't gonna create space for Bo.

- LordHumungous

I agree I think Horvat Hansen should be a mainstay, as well as Vrbata McCann.

They don't owe the team anything. They have done more for this team and community than anyone in the entire history of the Canucks and they have won that is class.

Tanev & Horvat for Johansen is about what they'd want.
- LeftCoaster

If we do that our D becomes the worst in the league. We're close as it is. Still, I'd think about it.

Sorry but any reference to Stallone is bad.
He ripped off Chuck Wapner's life story , no respect.

The biggest problem is the big void in age between the vets to the kids. That alone the single biggest issue n expect to continue a few years yet. JB can only move out players via trade or whatever so fast. We r stuck basically. 2-3yrs from now will see many vets gone n the kids ready to sink or swm. No matter what its still about the draft n development. UFA's can only do so much n the price is generally not worth it. More important that any UFA's that might get signed provide
mentoring.

All gone after next season or sooner: 28.8m more cap space
Vrbata,Burrows,Higgins,Hamhuis, Weber, Miller, Cracknell,Prust,Bartkowski
..RW.......RW.......LW........LD...........D.......G.........C.........LW.......RD
..JV......Boeser...Shink..Tryamkin.Subban,Demko,Cassels,Gaunce....?

Wherever we draft either Matthews, Tkachuk, Sergachev or Fabbro will be a nice piece. Its the later picks that we need JB to strike GOLD.
Move as many vets as possible by the TDL to stockpile picks next draft or after.

That a lot to replace from the farm or savvy UFA signings.
Thats a ton of cap space to architect a new start.
Need: 2 scoring Wingers, 2 top 4 D, #1 G n 2 2-way 3rd line wingers.
Mixed in is size n banging n some nastiness.

JB has his work cut out for him but we all knew it was coming.

Not defending Burrows at all, but there's a ton of stuff that's said on the ice... for whatever reason whenever Burrows says it people like to tell everyone about it.

I definitely remember other teams mocking burrows/canucks by using the Luc Bourdon celebration (arrow into the air).... thought that was super unclassy to mock a former dead teammate. I've never heard burrows run to the media about that stuff.

would be great if all these guys didn't touch stuff like that... but it seems that some guys can't help themselves

- Mungo

All of the talk about burrows is true I think. I personally witnessed his antics at a charity game in pierrefonds several years ago. During a game where pros, amateurs, teenagers, sponsors were playing and watching from the stands, he comes flying into the crease after the whistle and slashes the hell out of this old goalie's fingers (he was probably 55yrs old). A few of us jumped in and basically just looked at him like "buddy, wtf is wrong with you? " so idiot Burrows starts the old loose gloves shake and calls out one of our dmen. .."you wanna go? Hunh, wanna go?" Says burrows. The guy on our side said something like "dude, our kids are watching! This is for charity! " etc. It was close to the end of the game but people were trying to get him to leave. I lost any respect I had for him then. ...which wasn't much to begin with.

Excellent . Couldn't happen to two nicer guys .

I know it won't happen but I hope everyday everyone comes to their senses and they want to play for a cup contender and we get a boatload

- VANTEL

Honestly, this is what I want too. It's easy to say you cheer for the name on the front and not the back, but those are two guys that I'd love to see lift the cup. And while it won't be from everyone, I can see it going bad for them if they're still here when they start to decline.

Yes, give him some time off with his horses in Florida and start moving vets.
