Not defending Burrows at all, but there's a ton of stuff that's said on the ice... for whatever reason whenever Burrows says it people like to tell everyone about it.

I definitely remember other teams mocking burrows/canucks by using the Luc Bourdon celebration (arrow into the air).... thought that was super unclassy to mock a former dead teammate. I've never heard burrows run to the media about that stuff.

would be great if all these guys didn't touch stuff like that... but it seems that some guys can't help themselves

#CBJ Ryan Johansen on his healthy scratch tonight: "It's probably been brewing for a while. But since the last game, in Dallas … "

"... I made a few mistakes, (stuff) we've been going over as a team, things we have to erase from our game. Full responsibility. My fault."

More Johansen: "I'm going to use it as a positive and take this day to watch the guys and realize that I don’t want this to happen again."

- LeftCoaster

Canucks should offer sheet him . It is better than giving up Horvat and Tanev.

7 mil , we get a number one centre but we lose our first three draft picks in the 2017. At least we keep our young talent

You are defending Burrows and it's wrong, because a line exists, and he's crossed it on many occasions. If Sullivan came out and said it's been said to him by many NHL'ers you may have a point, but he didn't, he said one guy had the nerve to cross that line…Burrows.

I played hockey in the WHL, I know some of the poop that's said, to the average person it'd shock some of you, that said, I've never encountered someone personally attacking another player or making remarks about a tragedy.

Johansen...

I watched it, can't help but agree with Ferraro. Players nowadays don't like being benched and scratched when theyre not playing well. Players used to be able to take out there frustrations on the opposing team without taking penalties and make themselves look like theyre amped up. Now its a penalty and players just have to deal with the anger.

For those calling for Coaching change , look at how Babcock is doing ? Second to last . What about when they fired Carlyle ? How did that work out? Torts Sully .

It's the players not the coaching

I'd rather trade Tanev and Horvat for him than give up three picks, besides, he's not an RFA for another year and a half, if you're going to make a deal for him it has to be now when they possibly have him available.

As much as I would love to have Johansen on our team, I think if we are going to be giving up futures for anything it HAS to be for a younger number 1 dman. Defence is this team biggest downfall.

LeBrun: “... just to see what's going on, to see if there's an opportunity for them" w/ #CBJ on Ryan Johansen. 2/2

Trading Tanev would create big holes in our current defence, but would it really matter with the state of the team?

Trading a first round pick when you're at the bottom of the league is unwise!!

I'm looking at this draft class and once you get by Mathews you are looking at players that are average . I see Tyler Benson listed at 10-15 , he is not that great. Good but not great same as Fabbro listed in top 10

Tanev and Gaunce or Shink plus lower pick (4th?)
I think this trade doesn't happen for a while. But maybe Johansen pushes for it and tsn is right, I hope so!

I do not recall any player specifically doing that celly as a jab to Luc Bourdon... Please do not defend Burrows in any which way. One would argue that, if it were said in the 70's/80's that no one would even bat an eye and that now everyone is too politically correct. The fact of the matter is, we are more politically correct and what Burrows said IS unacceptable. There are hundreds of things he can say that would fall within the lines of appropriate trash talk. Where he went with Patrick O.S. is not acceptable.

I agree with Lefty's point and your agreement that the player gap is dependent upon the previous regime trying to win the Cup.

Where I disagree is laying the blame entirely upon the previous regime's players.

The ineffective players I refer to as well are Baertschi, Vey, Bonino, Clendening.

I agree Sbisa has improved, but still don't think he is part of the solution and still overpaid for his contributions, I've supported Sutter over Bonino from day one, the contract is questionable considering they had a year to watch him play.
- belcherbd

Bonino and Clendening are bad examples. Bonino was a best case scenerio in the Kesler trade. Clendening was acquired for a 5th rounder player who may never see NHL games. Clendening and Bonino also got us Sutter.

Luongo, Schneider, Kesler, Garrison all should of had good market value and while Kesler and Schneider did get some returns, I would argue that all 4 players got underwhelming returns.
- belcherbd

Only Schneider was controllable and we got fair value in a top 10 pick.

Burrows is a POS , he is one of the best agitators. I like guys like Marchand , burrows when he was that guy , Clutterbuchk , LUcic. I think teams need agitators.

Did Burrows go to far? That's not for me to decide. I think Sullivan should have kicked the living crap out of Burrows and it would probably be over.

I think once a player opens up his personal life while still active is open to ridicule, hate , and a whole lot more.

If a player admits he is gay , he is going to be called fag. I don't get the difference between , your sister gives good head and Burrows comments. IMO Sullivan should have skated over and kick the crap out of him.

Like I said , Burrows is a piece of crap but I can't cheer for him scoring the OT goal against Chicago and then say I want you off my team because you verbally abused a player. I want burrows gone now because he is old and slow , not because he said something over the line of good sportsmanship.

It all sounds like excuses to me, the team regardless of the mgmt has not been able to turn quality players in their prime into long term quality assets.

I don't see how a young elite starter is worth a lottery ticket and I would be saying the same if Horvat was on pace for 50 points.
