I'm not sure how I feel about this, and I certainly wasn't ready to fire him yet myself. I think what I disliked the most about getting rid of him was that not one of the names being mentioned inspired confidence only disgust. Can't say I care much for Sullivan but I'm open for someone to try to convince me of why they believe he's a good choice either for the interim or the language haul. - ImScore71

Question: so if Sullivan wants a guy from WBS to come up, will it be ultimately his decision? |

I know nothing of the guy. All I can say is that AHL success doesn't always translate to the NHL.
Curious if Dupes had any say in his exit interview. |

I just want to remind everyone that I did ask Sully when was he headed to Pitt at Wed. Game in WBS and he responded to me with a grin
I'm really psyched with this move now get ready to see some WBS guys get a call up. - Reverend Killtaker
Yup, you called it
Step one in my personal plan complete, although I would have rather Tocchet be fired than Agnew. Tocchet is worthless.
Well, bed's made. Time to sleep in it. If Sullivan sucks, I fully and willingly accept the poop that will be thrown my way. |

Everyone will bear witness to his only test. Will he keep making the same mistakes as MJ. Benching the wrong people/ not Benching those who don't deserve the ice time they get, the line combos and the systems etc. I'm not going to hole my breath while Scuderi is playing as often as he is and this teams offense has been neutered. So one please try to convince me why Sullivan is a good replacement. |

Completely agree with that. Tocchet should be gone too. |

Since another coach is canned, should it be considered to start thinking about trading some high salaried guys off and recoup whatever can be obtained?? Seems the team will be very stagnant bc of cap issues.... |

This exactly how I am. I don't dislike him but why should I care for the guy? I've never heard anything of him being the next hot coach being groomed that everyone wants. And I understand that label isn't important and it's not a knock against him but him being lumped in with all the terrible rehashes people kept bringing up as replacements probably didn't do anything to help my limited opinion on him. |

No. As a fan and even through straight logic I can tell you this is not going to happen. Doesn't fit the situation or the team MO |

I'm not sure that happens. WBS plays at home tonight and needs a HC so Jay Leach gets promoted to HC in WBS and prob Recchi steps in as asst. until a replacement is found. |

They are trying to sell the team, they will probably keep as much of the "star" talent that can till the team is sold. I think chances would be much greater of seeing a Letang traded, if they weren't selling the team. |

I don't recall Disco Dan being labeled as the next hot coach before he took over? Not saying history will repeat itself, but I don't remember him being talked up, or even Jon Cooper down here in Tampa... worked out well for him. |

I'm not talking about this very second. But a week or 2 from now, is it the coach or the GM that decides on who to bring up and who gets sent down. |

If I'm asking for other opinions on the guy because mine are limited then the responsibility of an answer doesn't fall onto me. I'm even willing to listen to your obviously biased opinion towards him despite you having said nothing of relevance so far. |

Being that they have tocchet still, I tend to think they do what I said and find a new asst. Martin or heck even Guerin for the rest of the season. Then address the staff after the season is over. |

It was a raw deal for Johnston from the beginning. you get hired out of the WHL, only get to pick one of your assistants, you have the general manager say that you were his 3rd choice, then you do your best in your first year but get bad break after bad break on the injury front.
he was set up to fail, he shouldve gone to the AHL and then be brought up to coach down the road.
as for sullivan, i've seen a lot of good things from him including from Torts. to me the things that need to change still include a move to bring in a defenseman. scuderi needs to be sitting and clendenning needs to be in over him. |

You are writing the guy off admittedly without knowing a thing about him. Why not read up on the guy first. Asking for people to convince you otherwise is just plain lazy. |

Limited knowledge is not the same thing as knowing nothing about the guy...obviously. Asking on here for other peoples thoughts and feelings when I know several people here know him pretty well is not lazy and is a better option that spun news articles made to make the team look good. duh |
