Gotta love Kanes awful angle shots that miss the net and head right out of the offensive zone as quick as it went in... - jochfr

There's plenty like him here right now. There are guys that will drive the net, but they're not doing it consistently enough. The amount of juicy rebounds that have been sitting in front of the oppositions goaltender with not 1 guy in blue and gold around him this year have been baffling. |

O'Reilly. IMO he's been the teams best player by far |
|
|

He's not a very good defenseman either.
Sorry to poop on the Risto love here but the kid needs to get better in his own end.
As SBroads said, Rasmus was on the ice for 3 of the 4 Calgary goals last night.
He has the worst + / - on the blue line and that's pretty bad reading some of the names on that blue line list.
And I know some will say, "that's because he is playing more minutes".
Well, maybe his poor + / - is screaming to you that he can't handle those minutes.
There's a thought. - BuffaloHardHat
there's truth to everything you said...but...
this is the first year of this team on the build side...and...
he's only 21...and...
he hasn't even begun to use physicality on a regular basis...
imo, risto's well advanced for a player of his size and at his age playing the top minutes he plays |

Hecht has 8 points in 15 games for the Mannheim Eagles this season
He's 38 years old
didn't the sabres pay him enough to retire already with the scrambled eggs in his head
or was he at the tables with vanek |

Ding ding. Too young to be given those minutes against top competition. Problem is, who would you put there in his place? - Sabresfan-365
I'd say to do as sbroads suggested.
Even the minutes out.
Too much too soon for Risto?
His + / - says it is, yet Bylsma keeps piling the minutes on him.
Bylsma needs to get his head out from his ass. |
|
|
|
I think they need to spread out the minutes evenly between the top 4 guys.
Give Risto/Bogo/Franson around 20 each, same for Pysyk when he's back.
Pretty soon, Risto's puck luck will dry up a little bit - sbroads24
Franson doesn't deserve anywhere near 20 minutes and it was good to see Bylsma drop him to the second pp unit too |

Agreed. If nothing else it takes some of the pressure off everyone in the top 4, though i'd prefer it if they brought another d-man in first. |

I agree that he has yet to reach his full potential Mike.
I expect him to get better in his own end for sure as he matures,
or at least I hope he does.

Neither does Bogosian or Gorges right now, but they get the minutes.
Problem is you end up putting it all on 1 or 2 guys shoulders.
As for Franson, his underlying numbers are actually decent (He is playing a sheltered role right now) |

In all fairness Goose, he is not that great in his own end.
He's not even good.
I mean let's just call a spade a spade, right?
He was drafted as a defenseman not a forward.
I'd be happier if he were better in his own end rather than him scoring a hat trick.
I kid you not!
Especially seeing that just about all of d-core sucks in their own end.
I'd rather have one ace in the hole that this team can depend on to shut down the other team in his own end and we still don't have that with all of the moves that Murray has made.
I want him to do what he was drafted to do and is paid to do better, I want him to be a better defenseman.
As I stated, perhaps I am just becoming impatient out of my pure frustration with our franchises and their continued ineptness at building a winner or even making the playoffs for that matter, but my frustration is certainly warranted. - BuffaloHardHat
I would rather have 6 defensemen that are driving possession, but I get what you are saying Hat.
Also, for Goose, in case she missed it when Npfh posted it last night as it's a great read about Pysyk...

i'm with ya, Brodie...gorges and bogo belong on the second parining, no question, although I think gorges has been playing well...
Franson, despite the analytics, does absolutely nothing for me |

Having a high shooting percentage (yes, 14% is high) suggests that it will go down. The average shooting percentage is around 8 and there isn't much varriance to that. Occasionally guys have insane seasons where the percentage is really high (such a Hudler last season and Stafford during his 30 goal year), but that is more a reflection on luck than actual skill or career shooting percentage. It's great to see the skunk finishing his chances, but don't expect him to shoot at this rate for the rest of the year. |
