I figured we'd be getting a top 10 pick this year, but closer to 10 than 1. Having said that I'm far from panic mode. We still need some other pieces, sure, but building a team takes time. I think the ups and downs we see this year are to be expected - a small streak of wins followed by some losses. Far too early to make judgements on draft picks and trades, especially draft picks. If we're like Edmonton or Colorado, where after years of building we're still at or near the bottom, then I'll be calling for heads. To me this is year one of the build, the last couple were the tear down and dismantling. I'm still glad I can cheer for my team again instead of hoping they lose.

Enroth has done very well this year, I could see him finding a starting job on a team like Calgary, who badly needs goaltending, next year.

Yes you can get a pretty good idea a year and a half after a 2nd overall pick was drafted whether they are close to becoming a star.

Draisatil looks like one. Reinhart doesn't. Reinhart looks really good, Draisaitl is almost leading the league in PPG.

So all those games last year where your boy was below average don't count , is that it? He has had more time to adjust to the pro game than Samson .He is not even eligible for Rookie of the year because of his long stretch . He was very underwhelming at times. Got sent back to Junior in the middle of the season . He is playing with Taylor Hall who is a better scorer than anyone we have at this time.
No One is saying he has not been great but your judgement of player future career paths is laughable. Does not matter though I guess, as they will be over the hill at 26 anyways.
