I just don't understand why some of the people on here whine about the posts by Eklund. If you're not happy, don't read, and don't respond! On the post about Vinny.....not only does it affect the team, - Hokeeguy9
How? No player is worried about him playing his way into taking their spot. Everyone knows that at this point it's going to take a few injuries before he'll play again.
but what does it say to anyone thinking about coming here?
I don't think it says anything but I'd love to hear your thoughts.

...Unless you can actually play competitive hockey, don't sign here? I'm fine with that message being sent. |

Since the flyers are coming off their best effort of the year and minus the CBJ game have been playing good hockey, could you please elaborate on how the benching of vinny is affecting the other players on the ice? - Just5
and further more, what has Vinny done to show he can still play? |

It says: The Flyers signed him; now, they want to weasel out of the contract. The way they have treated him is unprofessional at best. There is a long list of quality players the Flyers have treated like crap. But, as they say in the Flyers' front office, "It's just business." And it's getting old. |

Just a few questions (I'll hang up and listen):
- how are the Flyers trying to weasel out of a contract?
- How has their treatment of him been unprofessional? |

What nonsense. He's washed up and the teams rebuilding. What do you expect them to do? |

The sad fact is that Vinny can no longer play hockey. He looks utterly lost as the players on the other team and his own line mates skate past him. He can't skate and he is out of position most of the time. Neither Flyers management and players or their fans want to see Vinny like this. We want him to score 25 goals and be a leader. Unfortunately, any random forward called up from the AHL is currently more productive on the ice. |

I had no idea it was unprofessional to healthy scratch quite literally the worst player on the team.
Vinny is done, man. I don't know what you want us to do. He is nothing but an expensive liability on the ice at this point.
It's not personal it's just the way things are. |

It says, "don't sign a long term deal if you're over 35 and can't be bought out." AKA, "sorry, big-name over-the-hill player, this is now a sane franchise run by a competent GM. Try TO or Edmonton." - Snowblind

It's not a stretch to think that the Flyers front office is trying to get him to mutually agree to end his contract, which would save them millions of dollars over the years. If they were dumb enough to hire him as a piece of the puzzle for Laviolette's system, and then fire Laviolette, that's on them. From what I've read through Phila. news reports (a mistake, granted) it sounds like the organization has "leaked" anonymous statements that would paint Lecavalier in a bad light. I've gotten the impression they are trying to make it so unpleasant for him that he'll leave. This I find weaselly and unprofessional.

I highly doubt he is the worst player on the team. They haven't played him enough to find out. Sure, he doesn't fit into their current scheme, but he was hired to be a role player, and that role doesn't exist on the Flyers' team. I believe, if traded, he could excel on the right team. I'm not a huge fan of Lecavalier, but he's better than the media talking points that people keep parroting. I think it would be awesome if the Flyers ate a good chunk of his salary (you could call it the Holmgren penalty), and traded him to Nashville. I would honestly like to see what he could do if given the right opportunity. I would be the first to admit I'm wrong if he were to prove to be a waste of space.

On Carlyle...
There are many who now feel the Penguins will be waiting until January to bring on Carlyle, but that is implying he is coming in for the head coaching job and they would owe compensation....I keep hearing there may be another option...
I don't think the compensation situation depends on whether he becomes head coach or not. If he signs with another organization as H.C., assistant, scout, G.M., mascot or water-boy, I would assume they will need to cough up a pick. |

5on5 Vinny is the worst player, he is too slow. He was not brought here to be a role player, he was brought here to be a top 6 (2nd line center). If the Flyers could guarantee they would have 3 or 4 5on3 opportunities each game I guarantee he would be in the lineup every night. He would have had other chances somewhere else had he had waived his no trade. End of the day Homer f'd up and paid the guy who was on a decline and now the Flyers have to pay him. Even if he is getting a bad deal from the Flyers he is still being paid a ridiculous amount of money. |

Nashville won't take him due to them being butthurt over the Weber offer sheet. |
