You're opinion is wrong.
Reinhart and Jovo were top d men. - Scooby_Doo
Rienhart maybe, that's before my time and I can't say. Jovo was too much of a liability, everyone knows that. Super inconsistent. Love the big hits and skating, but how many did he miss and many times did he cough it up trying to go end to end. Sure do miss his grit right about now though |

We've never had a #1 D on this team. Ever. - neem55
I would disagree and say Ed Jovanovski and Paul Reinhart were absolutely number one defensemen.
Edit: I agree we've never had an elite #1 dman, but the above two were number #1's IMO. |

I guess you're right, I'm more speaking to elite stud d-men type, than simply #1 caliber. they usually go top 5, ekblad and jones both look like the real deal. Maybe Nashville would make a deal for Josi/Weber/Jones? |

Well yes, simplified, they just don't have enough talent on the team. Full stop. However, they can play better defensively if they had a coaching staff that made them play a certain way.
Weber is terrible defensively, so is Sbisa, so is Hamhuis this year. Hutton is a rookie who takes a bunch of chances offensively just like Edler. Our defence is terrible!!! - LeftCoaster

To me this is the start of a new era in Van. They need to draft D, build from the back end out around Demko. Hedman, Chara, Kieth/Seabiscuit, Doughty. |

Yes Sedins are the ones scoring , but they are also giving up goals.
I think it has just come full circle. Burr the Twins Hammer Bieksa Kesler gave us years of entertainment but it's coming to an end.

From the last thread….it's drafting not witch-craft.
I was looking at the Ottawa Senators recent draft record, it amazes me how many of the Leaf fans were calling out the Sens over the past two years and yet here they are doing fairly well again.
Look at their drafting;
2005 - two players with over 100 games, five in total played in the NHL.
2006 - three players with over 100 games, four in total played in the NHL.
2007 - zero with over 100 games but one with 63 games.
2008 - four players with over 100 games, six in total played in the NHL.
2009 - three players with over 100 games, five in total played in the NHL.
2010 - one player out of four picks played over 100 games.
2011 - two players with over 100 games, six in total played in the NHL.
2012 - one player with over 100 games.
2013 - Curtis Lazar with 90 games currently.
That's incredible considering none of those picks were top five!! That's 17 players they produced in nine draft classes with more than 100 NHL games, which is the excepted threshold for a quality NHL'er. Compare that to the Canucks.
The Canucks have produced FOUR players in the same time-frame with over 100 games of NHL experience. |

The Sedins and Hansen are a combined +21 (6/5/10), do you guys know what other forwards are on the plus side of things?
Brandon Sutter +4
Adam Cracknell +2
Brandon Prust +1
That's it... |

Accurate, and this is what JB brings (or at least supposedly) which is why I think he is the right guy for right now. As long as he stops trading 2nd/3rd round draft picks |

You may think JB is the right guy, do you think Linden is the right guy to be team President? |

What the hell is the canucks organization even doing? Like is it a rebuild or do they think they can compete? How do you manage to lose to a rebuilding Flames team despite having home-ice? |

What does TL do? He has all the pr stuff down pretty well, makes the odd error, might be too honest or open instead of saying nothing. Beyond that, I am not sure what his duties are and how they may impact the rebuild. |

Everything is going according to plan. The rebuild must happen. This is the way to get there. Be in position to move out all ufa's and look towards the draft.
I attended last nights game. The highlight of the night was the Club 500 party upstairs. Met some 94 Canucks: Babych, Lumme, McLean.
Was happy I got free tix to the game. Thats about $1,000 less than I paid for the last Bruins game I saw
Same result on the scoreboard tho |

I see the same outcome, although i was initially holding out some hope that the young guns punch above their weight and allow us to flirt with a playoff position...but i digress...the only thing not going according to plan is the piss poor play of our vets that are ufa's (Hamhuis and Vrbata, Weber) that will limit the return they will provide.
I see us near the bottom of the league by the season's end. I just hope injuries do not prevent us trading off some 'assets'. I imagine we will spend the next 7-8 months putting packages together to gain draft picks or move up the draft to select phx and edm's picks. |

Yeah he doesn't do anything, he's a marketing tool used by Aquilini. How many idiots bought tickets because TL was hired as management? |
