The big difference is the sheer number of rookies that we have. I do not belive that they are being held back by the twins. Look at hutton, hes a rookie playing well and getting decent ice time, WD must be ruining him right? No is just that he had been consistent so he had earned his ice.
If Sutter was not injured we would be winning a little more and the sky would not be falling. - Pres.cup
Vrbata is the most puzzling of the slumps. I thought Vrbata looked better with McCann than with Horvat. They want secondary scoring, I think they should be keeping Vrbata and McCann together and see who they can put with them, and give it a little time.

I think if you keep trying to reshuffle the deck chairs you will have a very long year.
The team isn't good enough , we need to dump at TDL and bring in new players along with more players like Gaunce and Grenier next year.
The games are close for most of them . Nucker should be around soon with our tank mobile |

Making it up
I am sure on page 2 of this blog 10 th post down has you answering Neem 55 remark ,to no one really deserves first line minutes .
Then you responded the problem is Horvat MCCann Demko Hutton and Boeser are not 25.
Would have copied and pasted it but it has already been posted once , no need for something that ridiculous to be posted twice.
Doesn't seem like I really made it up. - VANTEL

Patience takes too long...
WD is always juggling the lines. Just want to see McCann and Vrbata get to play a bit together. or at least put McCann on the 2nd unit pp if he is stuck on the 4th line with Prust and Dorsett.
I am all for Grenier and Gaunce gettng call ups. If we are losing, can't see how veterans are earning ice time. Can't be loyal to veterans if they aren't getting the job done.
It is going to be a long year. |

The Sedins are not the problem, I think WD uses them a bit too much, but the way they play shouldn't impact Vrbata, Horvat, McCann, or anyone else.
I hate to say that I'm disappointed with the coaching this season. Last night the Sedins played they're usual unreal offense, not a fan of them defending 5v5, but they're better on the pk... .
But watching the other lines play was brutal, watching Vrbatas line all 3 forwards where in a straight line across, Vrbata shoots, rebound is kicked out and all 3 forwards are caught on the breakout. It happens on every style of play, shouldn't someone be trailing for the rebound. Or positioned for something that pops out in scrambled play.
Maybe I'm wrong, but lines 2 thru 4 aren't deserving and need to play with better structure and sense. |

Ferraro on 1040, Ferraro: Canucks should move players if not in playoff mix - hillbillydeluxe
He's preaching to the choir. We all figured that out in the Summer.
Like Scooby said before , for the most part the team is entertaining. I would gladly take a top 5 player for a year or two. I think the last time we had a top 5 it was back when we got the twins? |

monahan, barkov, huberdeau and strome were top 5 picks.
strome is 22 and is still only averaging 15 mins/game (less than that the last few games). the canucks just don't have the players/prospects that can jump right into a top 6 (or top 3) spot. i'd also add that 4 of those players weren't given significant minutes until they hit their early 20's.
the jumping off point for this discussion was vantel claiming that the sedins are getting too much offensive zone starts, pp time and toi to the detriment of other players' offensive play.
i just don't see who deserves more time at the expense of the sedins. the team does not have top 5 picks that are riding the pine. they do have some rookies that are playing 10ish minutes but haven't shown that they are top liners... yet. as the season continues and their play dictates, they (mccann) will get more time and better minutes. - RealityChecker
Depends on what your objectives are; showcasing someone, playing rookies to get experience, purposely dogging season to get better draft pick… did I mention purposely dogging season to get better draft pick? |

I think if JB really wanted to find a trade partner he would have done so. I agree he is going for the high draft pick and doing it so we think they are not. |

Time for Lefty to jump in, is the problem the coaching style, there seems to be talent but no line chemistry, somethings (frank)ed up. |

No you just said that the lack of secondary scoring is attributable to the sedins getting the best minutes/opportunity. You also said the team is built around the sedins' style of play.
Other than that, nope nothing to do with the sedins.
The twins are top 5 and top 10 in scoring yet some would have them play in less offensive situations.
Unless you have ulterior motives (as bloated rightly pointed out), how can 19 mins and 1st unit pp be too much?
Is this bizarro world? |

I think when an organization says 'we are going to play our youth' it's secret code for 'we are going to struggle this season to position ourselves better in the draft'.
I think it's the best move for this franchise in the long run. I don't know why all the long faces. I say embrace the suckage. This franchise had its chance and blew it. Now we wait for the cycle and eventually our team will be able to compete again. |
