Then you won't get a first round pick if you wait. NYI in the last two years traded for first round picks where they picked up players like Barzal and Ho-Sang. Very decent . Canuck in the last three years have traded for two first round picks Horvat and McCann. Very happy with both of those players. I honestly wouldn't mind a PMD Fabbro or a 6'5 winger at the expense of Hansen. - VANTEL
Sure, it would be nice to get a quality asset back.
The risk is that you might trade for a draft pick and select a dud.
That is the point i'm trying to make, you trade a known quantity for a relative unknown.

Hansen has one more year at 2.5 , he will want a Burrows type deal after that. - VANTEL

That's what JB lives for. He is a natural scout. If he is pulling rabbits out of his ass with the 26 th pick imagine what he can do with a number 12
Hansen is the type of player that keeps the team from becoming a dysfunctional group of young player like the Oilers. - LeftCoaster
Isn't that the Twins job?
Hansen is on a hot streak , if they go nine games with only two points he will be on the trading block faster than you can blink. I have seen his name on here more than once this year to be moved.

I like your commitment to wanting change, but in the last 6 months you have advocated getting rid of every vet on the team, and yet the only reason the team is in the position they are, is....wait for it...............the vets.
I have faith that JB will make changes, some vets will be moved, he may get some addition picks with those moves, and once the season is over JB will grab another solid player with the 6th overall again.

What position are we in? Curious?
I do agree the vets have helped us to fall to 21 St overall and I do think we will draft around 6 or 7 th. That is why I said I am fine keeping them to TDL they are getting us a better draft pick.

Sure, but it's more than a two man job. Hansen can do everything well, PK, even strength, a good'ish 200 foot game, he's good 3 on 3.....many others need to go before he does.
As I said earlier, getting rid of older players and their contracts to make room for younger players, ready players like we have in Utica, is just as important as getting another high first round pick.

I like Hansen . I was bringing up the point if fans here want a first round pick this is what it will cost. Hamhuis and higgins will not get a first rounder.
That wasn't meant for you , but you have seen the postings Vrbata for a first or Hamhuis for a first. Two old farts with expiring contracts won't get a first.
If fans really want a second first round pick then they have to be willing to part with more than an expiring Contract

My mistake, I though you were advocating asap, and the position we would be in is last. IMO not condosive for positive environment for the rookies. At least they can see a few wins and their in the thick of it, a few wins by Edmonton and their still last.
But I do like your tenacity, you do come up with creative proposals
