At this point I just can't see Sven back on a regular basis and at years end he will be fielding contract offers in Europe for next season - Redmile247
we have a team of players that would look and play better along side more skilled players...
Sven hasn't been given the opportunity to screw up and get another chance. 7 points on the season playing somewhere around 10 minutes a game without any pp time.
Have to wait and see what happens, lots of hockey to be played.
Hutton is a minus player who has shown flashes of great potential but ultimately has more bad giveaways than edler or tanev with less TOI. Take off the rose tinted glasses, I like Hutton as much as anybody but come on. - neem55
The kid has shown more offense than both of those two combined. He has played 20 games, how can you not expect mistakes

Long time lurker first time poster to this forum. Been reading you guys for a couple of years! Very entertaining community with some knowledgable and funny people.
With that out of the way- boy is it hard to read the posting lately-
With the exception of a few, the negativity is just flowing. And I understand that as a huge fan, with my nucks heart on my sleeve! Its as if a family member is sick or something- it fracking hurts to see the boys lose and blow leads and suck in overtime.
For me, a lot of it is the "what have you done for me lately" feeling- it's a win now mentality that I haven't quite exercised (maybe never will) from the cup run. My heart tells me that we SHOULD still be playing as well as that team and winning, and scoring goals and playing Maholtra defence. When the reality is that things have changed drastically. Remember, Benning said we don't have to win the cup we just have to be competitive and we WILL not sacrifice the future for the present.
Who doesn't think we were competitive last night? After a hugely physical game versus Anaheim, and a hard fought one in Dallas. I thought we played a gutsy game. Markstrom played big and confident- and the D played a more calm and active stick kind of a game. Hamhuis did make some great stick checks, and a some nice deflections. Biega looked comfortable to me- and I look forward to a better look at him * especially the bulldog hits he was able to make.
The offence wasn't there (shot totals were UGLY), but we checked hard, OUTHIT the opposing team by quite a margin. DBAG Brown limped to the bench a few times. In the end an Edler diaper mistake blew it for us- fair enough that sucked, but I still like the score at the end of the game. (I hate one goal leads- its a snake in the grass)
I look to the standings- couple points behind the WILD- everyone talks D-core blah blah blah they have SUTER, and they're still only two points ahead of a team that has 7 rookies and Pedan at forward. (I realize they have the injury bug badly), but look a little deeper into the standings and the picture isn't all doom and gloom (at least for me)
The losing hurts, no doubt- but if we truly want to rebuild this team around some stud defensemen we're going to have to 'fake chow' our way through this and realize that we're in good hands with our GM. The scouting plan is set, and I bet he's got his eyes on Chychrun- and I AM GLAD to have a relaxed mind in the spring summer if we miss the playoffs... - VIRTBOHUT

We got 16 shot on net and awful possession time, I don't think we were competitive last night. You're right we stepped up the physicality, but did you watch that 3rd period? Embarrassing. Markstrom and the Sedins were competitive.

I definitely do expect mistakes, and understand the leniency. Edler's got 13 points in 25 games, Hutton's got 8 in 20, in no math magician but you know where I'm going here. I'm just saying he hasn't been our best guy on D, maybe number 4 cause lets be honest Sbisa'a been pretty solid back there. I'd like to see him play more than Bart and Weber, and he looks great going forward but let's stay in the present.

Who stepped up the physicality? I am not trying to be a smart ass. The only one I seen playing bigger was Weber, other than that and PedanSbisa two hits I thought we got out powered again

Ya, that's fair. I thought they played a bit a grittier game in general (for two periods). Sbisa is the one d-man we have that's willing to mix it up, agree with all it would have been good to give pedan a shot, were not winning games with Weber playing 18 minutes a night but you're right he probably played his best game last night.
The first thing JB should go out and do is go after the Tanev plus for Hamonic. - VANTEL
Thats insane, Hamonic is exactly the same player as Tanev _ Finkle is Einhorn.
Tanev is at this point our best defenseman so why get rid of him??
Get rid of Hamhuis and Higgins and throw in a prospect like Jensen, Bancks, Jones and Stewart BUT Tanev is the last person we wanna get rid of for Hamonic…counterproductive

He has 5 more points in 5 more games with 10 years more experience and prime time ice time on the PP and 3 on 3 with the Sedins

So you think Hamhuis and Higgins and Jensen will get you Hamonic. I would think those three could fetch Doughty and Hamonic
Tanev is not as good as Hamonic and that is mistake #2

Hamonic is much more physical, plays a bit more and has better stats (although on a better team) than Tanev. My knock on Hamonic, as I have not watched him much, is that he has yet to play a 82 game season.

You're right here, no way they're giving up a young guy going into prime years. They don't have d depth. It's Tanev+ for sure. again, I just question his durability.
WD has issues that he didn't create offense and yet we had one shot in the third and zero in OT.
I don't know if anyone heard the twins comments to Kouzma last night but they both said they just try to make it through the 3 on 3 and try to take it to the shootouts. Great leadership - VANTEL
I heard it and still can't believe there has been little or no comment about it.
I honestly couldn't believe what I was hearing!

I think it would cost Grenier and Tanev. Or Gaunce .
It would send a clear message to Canucks start to be more of a team. Stick up for each other. Everybody. - VANTEL
I can't see JB sitting on his hands if the team struggles over the next few home games. Boston is here on Saturday night, it might be the catalyst for a move if the team doesn't show up to play.

Tomlinson was on 1040 earlier and said Henrik has been on the ice for only one goal against in ot... thought it was more, I think the opposition scored at least once just after he lost possession and went off on a line change..
