It was a little surprising to hear that from a guy that was brought in specifically for that reason.

I agree with prust, I can't believe so many are crying about no one sticking up for the kids, props to McCann for taking care of himself and Getzlaf for not dropping the gloves.

The Virtanen injury was unfortunate but pretty standard play in hockey and not a cheap shot. He stood up for himself as well against Farnham, Horvat doesn't back down and neither does Hutton. The kids are fine and will be long term figuring it out for themselves.

Prust is here because Dorsett whined about having to fight too much last season and because mtl needed to clear some salary.

Actually, Linden and JB specifically mentioned Prust being brought in to protect the kids in the presser after he was acquired.

He was playing 20 games a year. There are about 150 better options out there including Pedan

There is no denying when Kassian was with the Sedins he was on fire.

I agree with you.

I know some of the tougher guys on the team are going to show a little tough love for JV. His style of game means he's going to need to toughen up fast because there will be guys taking numbers for the hit and always intervening and paying back for JV will into a prime target.

McCann should get an entirely different kind of respect... Getzlaf would of probably punched JV in the mouth if that same scenario played out last night... I'm sure if Getzlaf was a big enough ahole last night he would have to assume he would be a target all night as well... not the kind of rookie you rough up and still hold any kind of self respect.

Dorsett and Prust will protect when it's needed. They will go apepoop if people get too rough with McCann. JV is going to have a career full of people taking shots at him,,, that means he's doing his job and he's going to need thick skin.

That cross check to the ribs should have been called last night. bumhole refs put us in the box for the hook that never happened and let that go... I'm fkn sick of it... look at the refs in the end of the 1st last night then tonight... take possession from us and then the after the buzzer a soft call on Burrows. I'm just tired of it....

I agree with this, but thought that those two needed to step up to the challenge of our team getting manhandled (in general, not just the kids) and failed to do so on any level.

I think it was a locker room move, I personally like the guy but he clearly likes to party a little more than play. That's not the kind of influence you want on some 19- yr olds

I'd have liked someone to, whether them or anyone else. I'm not sure that you need to lose your shlt every time a teammate gets slashed, but when, as a team, you're getting bent over, it'd be nice to have some pushback.

I don't think it's exclusively Prust and Dorsett's responsibility, but seeing as they are getting paid well and don't provide much else, they are going to get the brunt of the criticism.

Getzlaf was penalized for the crosscheck, the only one that really bothered me was the Ritchie headshot on Higgins, if that was edler he would of been suspended 3 games.

I always got the impression that the Sedins were not big on him being on the line. When Burrows, Hansen and Vrbada, are with them, they jump into the cycle and back to the front of the net... Kassian more just stood in the slot and let them do a 2 man cycle which was easier to defend against...

It didn't bother you when Perry came crashing down on Millers elbow and everyone did absolutely zip
