No one like RNH here.
He's not big enough.
Disregard any rational thoughts. - dbot
RNH is a hell of a player and we would be extremely lucky to grab him from the Oilers... |

Dreams do come true, really happy about NHL debut tn!Big thanks my parents friends and people who helped me get here!lots of hard work ahead!

I wanted to see him on defense for a shift or two... - hillbillydeluxe
I understand that Higgins apparently was supposed to be ready to play last night but not calling up a forward when they had an opportunity was a mistake by mgmt.
Why call Pedan up over Biega in the first place if they are not willing to play him on D. Then calling Biega up to replace Tanev and using Pedan to replace Higgins is sloppy. I'm glad Pedan got some shifts and it looked like he was willing to use his size but I don't understand some of the decisions mgmt has been making recently with call ups.

Kenins has been injured much of the season, he played a couple of games and missed a few then was out for a bit again and has just recently returned.

The rationale, that I heard, was they called up Biega right after the game against the Ducks as insurance for Tanev. Higgins felt okay after the game. Tuesday morning, Higgins wasn't feeling good, and it was too late to recall anyone from Utica, Biega was already on his way.
I was guessing yesterday that Pedan was called up as a reward for good play, practice and hang with the big club, but I don't think WD had any plans of getting Pedan into the lineup before Higgins wasn't ready. |

oh i agree with you.
i have been very impressed with his increased strength and defensive play this year.
preaching to the choir over here.
i don't think we have the kind of players that Edmonton would want for Nuge mind you.

I think EDM is so knee deep in dog sh|t with their goaltending and defense that they would be willing to part with one of their kids for any type of upgrade. Something has to eventually give with that franchise and their forwards. |

I heard that rationale as well but it still doesn't make sense to me.
Higgins was clearly rocked and at the very least must of been a bit questionable, they already had a Dman up as insurance for Tanev, so calling up Biega put all their eggs in one basket.
I don't like the idea of bringing up a player with no intention of getting him the lineup if you need him. Calling Pedan up if they had no faith in playing him hurts the Comets and his development there and is a waste of a healthy body with the big club IMO. |

Yeah, i just think other teams would be able/willing to offer better packages than Vancouver.
Edmonton clearly needs help on D and Goal.
Miller is not the answer for Edmonton.
Markstrom is too valuable for us to move at this stage.
Edler? I would be happy to ship out of town. I doubt he waives to go to Edm.
Tanev? would leave a huge hole on our own D. Can't afford to move him imo.
Hamhuis? I value, but he has looked so slow these past couple weeks. I would be willing to move for the right piece and he might be willing to waive to go to Edm (as its close to his hometown of Smithers), but we would have to add. He's an aging UFA....
So...RNH for Hamhuis (with new contract extension guaranteed) and ?
Higgens and Pedan??
not enough. not nearly enough.
I don't think Edmonton needs more picks/prospects.
I think Edmonton could get Hamonic + from NYI.
Something like that makes much more sense. |

There is no way that we get RNH without including some serious talent.
If we want any good young players whether that is RNH or Hamonic or RJ, it is going to cost us guys like Tanev, Horvat, McCann, Demko, Virtanen, they guys you mentioned would only be included to make the salary work.

My guess with Pedan is that Willie and company didn't like what they saw from him in practice once he got here, which is why they ended up being reluctant to play him.
Might be awhile now till we see him again...
Anyway, the new blog is up, with the injury updates and some perspective on the Canucks' brutal schedule through the first two months of the season.

He's a skill center not a size center, we've had one for quite a while. His name is Henrik Sedin and he will be in the hall of fame one day. Nuge is got a lot of upside, and has finally got his frame over 200. Bo is the d/size center of the future, we need top-end skill, IMO RNH. Also, Humungous Hall isn't going anywhere, he and McJesus are untouchable, the rest maybe not. |

You need to build with skill as well as toughness. RNH would do well here surrounded with the right linemates. Getting him the right linemates would be the bigger issue than getting him here. |
