It's not the cross check. I think that the NHL needs to eliminate these kinds of plays because it leads to injuries frequently especially when its done into the boards, but this is a much bigger issue than that specific play and I'm not expecting the NHL to ever get around to protecting their players to that simple degree. The issue was when Dubinsky dished out his second cross check after Crosby was down with enough force to snap his stick. It was a scummy play of Nadmoican Suh proportions. It's the hockey equivalent of literally kicking a hurt player when he's on the turf in any other sport. There is no place for a play like that in athletic competitions. It shows an extreme lack of respect for your opponent and a general disregard for human decency.
