So how many games does his slump have to get to until we accept a possibility that last season was a mirage? 40? 50? 82? 267?
I'm not saying he's a 4th liner, but I'm willing to accept the possibility that he had a career year last year. - jmatchett383
raffl is the type of player i like going forward but he's not a top line or top 6 forward imo. |

Morin called up yet - Winning
I don't see why they don't give him a shot. Is he still waiver exempt? |

Yeah, as someone mentioned yesterday, may have been you, LOL, it was like when Berube refused to put MDZ back into the lineup. You just sat there thinking, WTF?? - BiggE
It's just that, too me, if you're going to hold one guy accountable, and give others a pass, it sends an awkward message. Medvedev was having issues before his benching, which is a reasonable reason for a benching. For a game or two.
My issue is sitting him for the better part of a month, when the rest of the defense is also a mistake prone group that wasn't playing well. Just seems to me, a coach should want to optimize his lineup, especially when there is a dearth of talent on the roster to begin with. |

I'm willing to also accept that. Last year the puck went in the net for Raffl. I don't expect him to score more goals at ES, than players like Jeff Carter and Ryan Johansen do, on a regular basis. I'll make my point clear, just as Raffl's season last year doesn't mean we should expect him to score goals at that pace, nor does this year's current scoring level mean that he's a bust, and a 4th liner. I thought that was pretty clear.

He is waiver exempt. Why would you call him up?

why not? ... let him get a taste of the big leagues and use it as a measuring stick for his development. with all the injuries and the state of the team there's nothing to lose. |

It was very unclear. You made it seem like last year's 67 games were your lone basis for evaluation.
Again, probably not a top-line, consistent 20-goal scorer, but also not a no-talent hack 4th liner either. |

Exactly. Playing a few NHL games is no threat to his future development. He may make some mistakes and he may need some more AHL time, but one thing is for certain, he's not going to get pushed around. It would be nice to have a guy like Morin around, guys like him have a way of making the entire team play "bigger"
While the day of the goon is over (good riddance), huge dmen, with decent wheels and skills and a wide mean streak, will always be in demand. |

I wouldn't have a problem with it, but I want whatever is best for the player. If he's ready, get him up here. If he's not, then leave him where he is. Whatever is best for his development.

You're analysis of what I was trying to say, was incorrect. It was very clear that what I was stating was that the 25 games if this season, doesn't make Raffl a 4th line player, as the poster I quoted stated. Referencing last season was about taking the players play as a whole, not just this season.
