Holmgren was an awful GM imo. Did he make some good transactions yes. Is the majority of his GM tenure based on beating the Rags in a shootout? You bet it is.

Hextall is still in the infancy of his tenure. Can't really judge him yet. Too small of a sample. I've liked a lot of the things he's done thus far, others not so much. Obviously fans aren't going to agree with every move a team makes.

imagine if they lose that shootout... oh geez, could you imagine? missed the playoffs year after that pronger trade... good lord.

yeah, people probably would have complained endlessly on here for days, weeks, months, even years. Things would have been so different!

yea just because i never played pro sports means i have no first hand experience about recovering from injuries and the rehabilitative process. that's rich.
- JoeRussomanno

But the thing is you do not have the experience of recovering from an injury as a pro athlete in 2015. I don't think you understand how much medical care these guys have compared to the average citizen. Additionally, they don't have to go to work and re aggravated it because they need to pay the bills. Any little pain they may have, they can go to the doc, and the doc can take care of it. They have a physical therapist on staff, too. He was being evaluated every single day by some of the best doctors in the world that only look at athletes.

Pretty shocking that Umberger who was injured when he was acquired, has been a pretzel the entire time he's been here.

Meanwhile Hartnell has 39 goals, and 37 assists in 99 games as a Jacket. Man his contract is looking like an albatross every day. Good thing they got rid of him to cater to Berube.

If other teams really felt AMac was that reliable, he would already be gone at 1/2 price.
- Tomahawk

no kidding, no one is paying amac anymore than 1.5mm tops at this point.

I agree with you, but based on him being a part of his signing, I think maybe he does think hes an NHL defenseman.
- YuenglingJagr

I dunno... let's say he was in the AMac bandwagon at the time of the trade... what explains the complete lack of hesitation to bench, demote and bury the guy after he took over? I'm not sure it jives.

Does bringing back a bad contract help at all right now?
- YuenglingJagr

You could trade him for a shorter-term bad contract (like Umberger) and then 50%/BO that one asap instead. For example, Beauchemin for AMac, then try to peddle Beauchemin to some team at 50% or ride his shorter deal out instead. Hell, bury him too if you want and net $500k worth of savings immediately over AMac.

The AHL thing will be gone if he comes back and proves he belongs.
- YuenglingJagr

Can you think of any examples where a guy gets buried and then effectively resurrects his trade value? Huet, Souray, Redden, Finger, Richards, Avery, Kotalik... it's a real kiss of death.

how does he keep his hair perfectly dry and styled after playing a game? He pulls that mask off and BAM, perfect sculpted hair. What's his secret?
