AMac can be buried in the AHL for a savings of 950k...which is enough to bring up any defenseman on an entry level deal. Vinny cannot be moved anywhere for any savings (besides being bought out and ignoring a trade which seems incredibly unlikely).

If you want to feel better try this...pretend the flyers are paying AMac 950k and Ghost 5 million

Vinny could be nice and allow us to bury him in the minors, but nooooooooo

I don't know, I'm sure Snider is on board. I don't think they'd accept a tank, they want to remain as competitive as possible without giving up any of the future. Look at the model in LA, fans were calling for Lombardi's head, and lost patience. That's going to happen here, and fans will be calling for both Hextall and Hakstol's head before too long. They talk about patience, but that's all. We're seeing that already with all the talk about bringing up the kids.

My problem with the current product isn't the losing, it's more the way they're losing and the coach' unwillingness (in general) to try changing things up lineup-wise. If they lose because the other team is better, fine, that happens. But if they lose due to a lack of effort and/or the coach sticks with what isn't working, then yes, I have an issue with it.

If MacDonald is not in the teams future plans, which right now it appears as if he is not, I'd rather trade him in a retained salary deal, which is going to be difficult. It's made even more difficult with him assigned to the AHL. They need to call him up and play him in my opinion.

I feel like Hextall should hire the Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce to help us here.

I understand that. In the end, Vinny's here for $4.5M for 2 years and AMac is here for $4.05M for 4 years. I'll gladly take the 2-year deal.

I just don't like watching them stink, doesn't make me more, or less of a fan.
Some fans have more patience than others, same as GM's.

Who the hell knows what's going on with the defense when the guy Hextall went out and paid $3m for as a free agent is continually sitting as a healthy scratch while the make-a-wish-kid Manning plays almost every night.
- Feanor

I also would have accepted Fantasy Camp Manning

I agree to a certain extent. The coach has made a lot of changes lineup wise.

I agree. But which one of our superstar defensemen do you sit? They obviously want to keep playing Manning. You can't sit Ghost. MDZ and Schenn seem like they're playing competently, which is better than some. Schultz can't sit because he "plays the tough minutes." So I guess Gudas would be the odd man out.

No I understand what, and why he's doing what he's doing.
But all GMs do not have the luxury he's afforded, sorry I don't agree with that.
We've heard Snider before female dog and yell about his product looking really bad, whoever was at the helm had to do something.
Doesn't make someone more, or less of a fan for enjoying losses, and talking about the draft lottery. If you enjoy this then become an Oilers fan.
They are the lowest scoring team in the league, and Snider said what?
Yeah, he's got pressure to win now, sure he does.

- puckhead17

Never said anything about enjoying losses. You just have to keep it in perspective and recognize it is the smartest way out of the situation the Flyers are in.

I think the difference is that we've seen this season that Vinny in the lineup actively hurts the team, even in limited minutes.

Would anyone really argue that giving Manning's super easy minutes to MacDonald would hurt the team?

No, and that's the point that goes in AMac's favor: he actually has the talent to play on an NHL roster. Still, I'd rather a player be horrible for 2 years as opposed to a player being slightly less horrible for 4 years.

The ones that say "I love the plan, in 3 years look out for us"!
And "oh, let's dump this one, and that one, and get Matthews next year".

I understand it, but, never mind

I agree that the 2 year deal is more ideal...but AMacs deal is at least movable. I do think that a retained salary trade can be made. It doesnt have to happen this season either. Within the next year or two I think AMac will be playing on the Flyers and will eventually be traded with retained salary. It is not a ride it out until it dies situation

They still don't enjoy the fact that the team currently sucks. They just understand that they do suck and are hoping that the team will not suck in the future. There's a big difference.

He is delusional. His best shot of getting out of here would have been to go to the Phantoms and put on a clinic since he believes himself to still be a competent NHLer.

He knows he can't even cut it down there.
