The team has enough problems with the third pair unsettled and now one of the top four has requested a trade as they enter the heart of the season? I thought Hammer was a team guy who could find a way to help his family. I mean he is not playing on another continent and every team plays 41 games on the road.
However EDM would get an awesome upgrade on D and we may see Pulock, Pelech and company sooner. I would be more inclined to see Hammer play out this season. |

Exactly my point. Warts look like mountains when under a microscope. Sure he'd still be in a top-4, but he at least has guys like Leddy and Boychuk ahead of him taking the bigger assignments. - MaximumBone
Schultz is not Petry. |

He reminds me of Matt Gilroy. I'm shocked he's still in the league. - rangerdanger94

considering how well hes playing, his age and his contract- I don't think theres a proposal out there that isles fans are gonna be happy with.
while on the flip side, the return theyre proposing is completely out of the question for the fans of the other team
they want all this value fully compensated asap. and I just don't see it working out that way if in fact snow is willing to agree to his trade demand - Ihateallofu
I think every Isles fan here is more than willing to keep Hamonic as long as it takes to get a fair deal. |

I almost wonder if part of what's going on is that Hamonic has had a change of heart on his contract and is hoping to pressure Snow into some sort of renegotiation? He sees guys like Boychuk and Leddy earning a couple million more per season and thinks to himself, "Why not me?" It's purely speculation, but that's all we can do until Hamonic goes public with the matter... |

But is Hamonic willing to wait that long and not let the situation get toxic? Without knowing the personal situation, we can't be sure. I'd hope anywhere he goes gives a solid return back to the Isles as I hate seeing anyone lose out on such a good player without at least a decent return (happens every season in Edmonton). |

Schultz is not Petry. - tredbrta
hes not
his offensive instincts are on a whole other level. certainly doesn't have the physical side of his game and tends to play soft in his own end, but even that looked a lot different this year before he went down.
its crazy to read all the posts that talk as if petry being good was just matter of fact now after all the hate and vitriol regarding his value and worth before he left.
"he plays on the oilers- he must be terrible" |

It seems like he's been professional about it and isn't "demanding" a trade ASAP as much as he formally requested a trade.
Quite frankly, the Isles don't have to do a damn thing and both the Islanders and Hamonic know it. |

If I'm snow I'm asking for Darnell Nurse and Yakupov. Start there and don't budge. Or something along those lines. Nurse plus another forward. But I think yak fits the bill.
Oilers get a young stud dman (and play as their #2) under contract for another 5 or 6 years at a more than friendly cap hit. |

Not allowed under the CBA and Hamonic is not that person.

I don't think you're remembering things clearly. Petry was the ONLY respected defenseman the Oilers had when he was on there. |

Good thought JS anything is possible.
Fact is he is under contract and him asking / requesting a trade doesn't mean Snow if he isn't getting what he thinks is fair value talent and Cap wise he doesn't have to make a trade.

There's a huge difference between a trade demand and a trade request. |

Did not know that, thanks. Agree about Hamonic, he's always impressed me with his maturity and team-first attitude. |

I don't see that as a realistic scenario. If I had to pick someone off one of those four teams that was reasonable, id look at tanev in Vancouver. Not sure the Canucks would move him. |

Confirming report from @FriedgeHNIC, Travis Hamonic requested a trade prior to the start of the season. #Isles trying to accommodate. - Vukota
This is (frank)ing insane. We can't lose this kid and there's no way we're getting equal value back. This (frank)ing blows. |

Exactly 6 !
Wether request or demand the player wants out.
Wether request or demand he's under contract.
Wether request or demand Snow will only trade him if it's a good deal for the team. |
