Don't always need to hit, honestly. (I await the dozens of comments telling me I'm wrong) Just need a guy that can retrieve the puck out of the corners and exit the zone with possession safely. - eichiefs9
You won't get it from me.. I totally agree... Many hits are overkill. Just not needed... takes them out of the play as the puck/play is already moved ahead. |

Hamonic says his request is strictly personal, nothing to do with #Isles. "I've been treated like gold ever since they drafted me."
Probably a lot more tweets on this to follow... |

Why has Snow said he is not interested in picks or prospects for Hamonic? |

Hamonic called the matter "strictly personal" and understandably wouldn't go any further. Said he'd play the whole season if need be. #Isles

Why has Snow said he is not interested in picks or prospects for Hamonic? - stowerkraut
Because we're losing our 2nd or 3rd best defenseman. Picks and prospects don't play defense now. If this were the Islanders 5 years ago, sure that would make sense. But they're trying to compete now. |

Because they are a playoff team and he wants an NHL player back for one of his best D-men |

My guess, when you are losing one of your top 3 defenceman with nobody to fill in, picks and prospects aren't going to help much. |

Understood. Thought there were a few high end Dmen in the pipeline. Plus the 4 western teams involved are/have been basement dwellers for years and are loaded, especially WINN with forwards. |

There's really only one, but regardless...we all know defensemen a) are a crap shoot and b) take a long time to develop. Pulock could jump in now if need be but he could take 2-3 years to fully reach his potential...if he ever does.
We're giving up a sure thing and talking about replacing him with a long-term/inherently unsure thing. It's a scary thought, which is why Snow is looking for an immediate replacement for Hamonic. |

Tavares has no concerns about Hamonic or the #Isles now that word is out. "We're going to support him and he's going to play his hardest." |

Pulock is high end, but it may still take some time. Would be nice if he got some games in already this year and especially when this trade request was known before the season. Like chief mentioned, the Islanders may get back a Myers or Trouba. |

Also, she's always wet. - eichiefs9
Hitchcock is way past menopause. No way he could respond any longer to Hamonic's hitting like that. Though he would try. Now, a cheap shot might get a result. Hitch loves cheap shots. |

I'd give them Hamonic and Okposo for Shattenkirk without thinking twice. Outside of Tarasenko, they are hot garbage down the right side. - eichiefs9
Shatty may be better offensively but that is an overpay. |

I gothcha. Just curious why Snow's handcuff himself to swapping Ham for an established roster Dman. Those trades are difficult. At least entertain adding 2 forward prospects for depth. If the D struggles other deals could be made. i.e. pick and a prospect for a rental like Hamhius for example.
Of the 4 teams speculated as trade partners who's the fans pick team wise and player wise? |

Even with Buff on the out and Enstrom breaking down? Would Russell work from Cal? |

Okposo is a pending UFA that the Isles aren't going to re-sign and Hamonic wants out regardless. It's a no-brainer for us. |

Too bad Shattenkirk has stated his dream is to play for the Rangers. He'd likely refuse to play if dealt to his most hated team the Islanders. |

Because top pairing D men may be the most difficult position to develop. If he loses Hamonic and settles for a rental he sets himself up for a big gap in the lineup down the line.. and if Pulock was ready he would already be playing in the NHL. Most top pairing potential guys are up within 2 seasons unless the NHL team is complete garbage and management knows it could hurt their development. |

Kreider after you acquire him for Brian Strait |
