This is (frank)ing insane. We can't lose this kid and there's no way we're getting equal value back. This (frank)ing blows. - Cptmjl

There's a huge difference between a trade demand and a trade request. - rangerdanger94

Totally agree Capt. If we get a player where their talents are aligned we will certainly not have as favorable a cap hit or contract.

Tell me the difference in this context then? - nyisles7
Demanding a trade is when you are unhappy with your team. A player that demands a trade publicly speaks out about the team and the situation in a negative manner. Think Erat with the Caps. Or Nino with the Isles.
What Hamonic is doing is more requesting a trade. He's reiterated that he loves the Islanders, but has reasons he would prefer to be on the West coast. He would like Snow to be traded, but he's not holding a gun to his head. Similar to Marleau in San Jose. |

The difference is only one of degree. Considering we haven't got the facts yet, there is no way to discern that difference. RangerDanger is just being his douchiest. |

Ok so now tell me why it's different? Will the Islanders get more value back for him because he requested a trade?
No (frank)ing way you bumhole! So there's no difference he wants to be some where else!

Based on Snow's history of dealing players that have asked to be trade (i.e. Nino for Clutterbuck), I think that a realistic return for Hamonic would be Dorsett |

this is sorta the crux
considering all the factors of his value to you due to contract/age/your aim at cups asap etc etc, and then the pieces the teams hes requested to go to have to offer you--its going to be very tough to get equal value back in terms of nyi's needs now |

Value aside, it's about the situation. If he was pissed off and running his mouth to the media constantly, it creates a distraction for the team and becomes a circus and ultimately results in the GM likely caving early just for the sake of ending the circus. It seems like Hamonic in this situation has expressed his preference to play on the West but will play on the Isles every day with his mouth shut until Snow finds a fair deal.
Again, he's not holding a gun to Snow's head at this point in time. He's not making it a circus. The situation isn't toxic. |

He can't hold a gun to Snowy's head he's under contract.
Bottom line is Snow's not getting anymore in a trade for Hammer because he likes the Islanders and requested a trade and if you believe that your stupider than everybody on here knows you are |

well then don't trade him. Oh well it leaked thus reducing his value. Not Snow's problem is what it is. We're not going to trade arguably our best defenseman for beans because he's got personal reasons after just signing a seven yr contract a season ago. Snow won't do it I know his shctick well enough by now. Best we can hope for is a bidding war of some sorts defenseman of his caliber don't grow on trees or Travis is going to be stuck for a bit. |

This may sound callous, but if I'm Snow, I tell Hamonic "hey, we get it. You want to be closer to home. We will try to accommodate you but we're not giving you away. If we get a deal for equal or better value in return for you, well accommodate you. If not, plan on finishing out your contract"
Hammer is arguably their best d-man. They can't give him away just to make Hammer happy. They owe it to the other players to make sure if they trade Hammer, they get back a top four d-man, signed and entering his prime, just as Hammer is. - Jethro09
Thats probably the conversation they had when Hamonic first broached the subject. Hamonic is a big boy. He has to understand that. |

Snow can afford to be more patient, and therefore wait for a better deal, because Hamonic won't turn this situation into a media circus where EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR AN ENTIRE SEASON Hamonic is publicly airing his issues with the team and bad mouthing the franchise. This type of behavior will force Snow to just get rid of the little doucher for the sake of ending the drama.
More than likely, in a a couple of weeks if Hamonic does what it seems like he will do (address it once with the media and then refuse to talk about it), everyone will forget about it and stop talking about it. Kind of like the Marleau situation where the report popped up that he would welcome a trade. Nobody's talking about that anymore. It's not a distraction. He's not female doging to the media every day. His teammates aren't being peppered with questions regarding his request. Nobody gives a (frank) and the GM can afford to be more patient because there's no distractions and can wait until a fair deal comes along. |

It will be a distraction wether a request or demand. The media will be all over this and his team mates will be questioned about it and address it and bottom line it WILL be a distraction and bottom line again the Islanders aren't getting more value in return because he requested a trade versus demanding as Snow doesn't have to make a trade which is the bottom line here and wether it's a request or a demand so just LET IT GO YOUR WRONG.

hes going to get moved at some point. its just how these things play out.
maybe it wont be for awhile-but now that its leaked, its just more of a distraction and more incessant questions
snow doesn't have to get ripped off by any means. but I don't see him getting equal value. and ill bet isles fans are even less stoked on the return
