You bash WD for being inexperienced and making mistakes, but you want Gulutzen to have a larger role? You realize that by seasons end they will have the same experience with WD having more success at literally every level. AHL - WD won, NHL record - WD only needs 9 more wins to surpass Gully's total (plus has playoff exerpience).
Coaches will make mistakes, just like the players will. Its tough to be in a position to put your success and trust in players to provide the outcome you desire. Even having Babcock coaching here would only have a minimal impact on the bottom line, the players play the game and the Canucks' horses are just getting old and the new ones aren't quite ready to be impact players

I base my desire for Gulutzen to have larger role on his performance....he is an active coach, takes the bull by the horns. Likely the reason Linden kept him and yet fired the entire coaching staff from torts era. Strategist, likes running practices, sees need to works on things in certain areas and does it. Sdeen good things from him that I dont see in the others.
But remember a coach CAN make a huge difference, not necessarily WILL. Example....Took Buff to the cup final 7 game in "99...lunch bucket group of players outside of Hasek. Team had no business being there but he did an amazing job that run... how many times we saw a group like that make a cinderella run? oilers when they went game 7 too. NJ under Odoer as well.
Mind you there are also times the team gets there in spite of coach... see colorado / crawford and canucks / AV
