You're joking right? He ranted for the full 4 minutes it took to review it that it shouldn't count. At the end he 'may' have questioned it for good measure for tv but dude...he was all over that goal not counting from the first second. They didn't show the one ice level angle during the review process UNTIL Miller was being interviewed after the game...convenient right?
Hey it's all good. We are used to the refs and the whole Leafs love ins in the feature games on HNIC every Saturday. Even though we didn't play well enough to win it would be nice to see some consistency with the reffing and I'm not just talking last night I'm talking all over the league. - LordHumungous
He said he feels it should be a good goal but understands why it would be ruled no goal. Did you miss that.

If Canucks did move
Edler 5 mil
Twins 14.2 mil
Hamhuis 4.6 mil
Vrbata 5 mil
Prust 2.5 mil
Higgins 2.5 mil
That is 32.8 in cap space . You could offer sheet Reilly. Offer Stamkos top money
And keep enough to have money for RFAs - VANTEL

Montreal up next, they'd better clean their game up or they'll have one win on a seven game road trip. Team needs some healthy bodies back.
I listened to Willies post game presser this morning, what a crock of poop from him, just say it like it is, you're not fooling anyone! The team played like poop in front of Miller, their defensive coverage and give-always was embarrassing. Not to mention the Leafs could have scored two short handed goals on the night.
Benning needs to hold the coaching staff accountable despite the loss of some players...tighten it up Willie. |

I watched the Oilers vs Kings last night, that was an entertaining hockey game. Draisaitl has 13 points in eight games, kids on fire!!! |

Could be a bad spell for the team or it could be we are not that good. Canucks are a very predictable club to play against. Any coach that does his homework knows what we will do next.

Yeah but that team is just as bad now as they were in 2010. Your rebuild will be completed before theirs. Oilers are the pooptiest franchise in sports. |

I guess I missed Simpson changing his mind?
His exact words at the time of the goal were 'This is gonna be a kick in...that to me is a kick'. Basically almost before the puck crossed the line.
You must have been getting a drink or something at that time hey? |

Chiarelli will fix the back end there but it's gonna require movement. They could be very active at TDL. |

I'm with you, get rid of the older players (not the twins) and lose with the kids if that's how you're going to play.
Don't kid yourselves, not you specifically Vantel, coaching has a lot to do with their recent lack of playing a systematic game. You can't play the same as when you had a full lineup or when you're on a long road trip like this. |

Agree on some counts especially starting Miller yesterday. Guy has played 16 of the last 18 games and needs a rest. I understand that we played like crap in front of Miller but I will stand by my claim of WD needing to get Markstrom some time in goal. But it was the HNIC feature game and that's why Miller was in. WD isn't stupid and knows Miller needs a rest but that was a primetime start for the no 1 goalie on national TV nothing more. The peach that was the first goal Miller let in deflated the club. Over the past week the team has confidence issues in front of Miller they need to see Markstrom in there to get a change of pace and different look. |

I think the twins are our best two players but their peak value is this year. In two years we will be cursing them like we are with Hamhuis this year. I understand the sentiment but what is really best for them and the team is to be traded at TDL.
You could get a franchise Dman a top 6 centre and two draft picks plus14 mil in cap space. you have to concede all emotional feeling aside ,that is the best route for Canucks . |

They actually put it up on the screen last night, the Oilers were two points ahead of where they are now last year...which surprised me.
The Oilers, and Colorado to a lesser extent, are examples of why tanking doesn't work 50% of the time. There's a lot of first round and first overall picks in those lineups and they still can't win. Although they are competing a lot better than they used to.
I don't think they the worst franchise in sports, they were the worst managed when Lowe was in charge, but he's not now. IMO if they were to trade some of those kids for veteran help they could turn that ship around in a hurry. |

I think he needs to trust and play Markstrom more as well, but regarding that first goal last night, just look at it. It was top of the circle, Weber was screening him and it was a great shot...there's nothing wrong with Miller on that goal.
Weber was more at fault than Miller. Markstrom wouldn't have stopped that either. Carey Price probably wouldn't have stopped it, just a great shot by JVR. |

As we've been over many times, it's really up to them with their NMC's. I just don't see it happening. |

Exactly. The reality is the best thing for them and the team is a trade.
They have earned the right to stay and go down with the ship as KB says.
I do think JB will discuss options with them this year. They could extend their careers by playing for a competitor instead of two more years here |

I will have to agree to disagree I guess. Markstrom does need to play more agreed it would be nice to see Markstrom get over the 20 game mark by the end of the season.
But I just can't get there on that first goal last night. That shot (albeit a great shot by JVR) was totally stop-able. Yes Weber was slightly in the way but not really impeding Millers read of the shot coming off JVR's stick. That shot happened almost five feet above the circle which would make it close to a 40 foot wrist shot. Those just can't go in and it deflated the club. Would markstrom have had it? Can't say for sure but IMO that save has to be made. As a defenceman..the 35 foot screen excuse doesn't work for me.

Markstrom should get 30-35 games this season. You have one more year of Miller, you need to know Markstrom is ready to take over

True enough. The other thing I failed to mention last night was the failure to dress Shink for the game. That's on WD as well. Playing against the Leafs would have been a game tailormade for Shink to step into IMO. unless Shink didn't get there in time to dress...
Have you had a look at Demko's #'s this year?? Outstanding.
B.Schenn a healthy scratch according to Ek...Schenn for Edler?? |
