Is Miller still staring into his glove? - Marwood
Probably swearing at it and shouting, "Son of gum chewing bug monster! Why the fruit does all this funny stuff always happen to me! Forget my life! Always surrounded by miserable failing clods! Like this whole world wants to bend me over and find me in the alps like I'm some sort of slug receptacle. Well as far as I care, these miserable cows can have a fancy barbeque with a goddamn pig!" |

Nux aren't going anywhere if higgie is on the PP...
why we don't have 22-33-17 and then 47-91-14 as our top two units doesn't make sense... 18-21-53-36 all should be ahead of 20 on the PP... - kaptaan
It is a young mans game. You need a strong core of players that are between 22-29.
You can find service in older players and a couple of players can produce in their mid thirties, but you can see the younger guys taking advantage in the 3 on 3. The older guys will keep your head above water for a while but they will sink you sooner than the young talent will. |

when someone asked, "i don't know why higgins is on the PP. Higgins replied, "I don't know why either"".... - kaptaan
The answer is because he is taking a deserved spot away from Gaunce. |

there's obviously something wrong with Hamhuis... but it'll be alright. he'll either sign for 3rd pairing money or he'll be moved at the TDL for assets we can use...
if a useless turd like Redden and Kaberle who were worse than Hamhuis at similar points can garner first rounders, or top pair kind of money based on history, then there'll be a GM or three that'll give it up for an Olympic champion, and (previously) top pair guy like Hamhuis...
no point getting ur panties all twisted to the doom and gloomers... - kaptaan
Those were the days GMs gave up second rounders for Keith Carney. |

True. For what Hammer is capable of now we could get out of another Bartkowski-style player for 1/3 the price. Hamhuis' liabilities are really coming to the forefront as is Edler. Watching the hilites Edler did not look sharp to me. Even Tanev out of position multiple times. But the Luongo style Miller third goal muffin deflated the club and really cost us the game regardless of how bad our D looks.
Would love to see WD come back with Markstrom for the TO game this Sat.

Edler hasn't looked sharp for 3 years. A few of us have been saying it for a long time. Maybe it was his suspension, but I think it was before that.
Hamhuis has looked awful since mid point last year. |

I always think Edler is hesitant to make big hits, shies away from contact at times because he doesn't want to hurt his back or he often plays with some level of discomfort. Still not a bad price tag for what he brings.
Hamhuis has been inconsistent. He can still make smart plays but is making more mistakes. Appears to be trying to bring more offense to his game and is making mistakes on the other end where he was once so solid.
What was the deal with Sutter last night, was he hurt or healthy scratch?

@DimFilipovic: Things Tortorella has done so far: alienated his best player, benched his most promising defenceman, made everyone do lots of pushups. Cool.

similar situation to Higgins. Coach plays him where he does because he thinks he is the best fit. At his salary, I think he can still play in the second pair or be that #2 dman.
replacing Edler is easier said than done. top 4 dmen are always in demand. |

Exactly, only way id trade him if it was a solid offer, kinda like what flyers got for coburn. (1st 3rd and gudas) but chances of an offer like that would be slim |

Although some may question JB's trading, there is no rush to move Edler, this is not a fire sale.
Wondering what Colorado wants for Duchene? Would Toronto do Rielly and Kadri for Duchene?
Those lines look interesting, McCann with Vrbata, would rather see Burrows with them than Higgins though. |

No rush but if a solid offer came in, and theres nothing wrong with Duchene i have no idea why colorado would get rid of him, i think toronto would have to add at least a second with kadri and reilly but who knows.

Do you think GM's in the East don't watch any West games? Do you think they just ignore 53% of the league? I think they would at least make sure those games are taped to watch. I can't imagine many people in a profession (high high up in that organization) only worry about 47% of their direct competitors. Maybe I'm wrong. - walshyleafsfan
No you are not wrong, more eastern exposure for sure, but that would be a complete incompetence. |

It sounds like they need a dman, but it is more about moving Duchene.
You are prolly right about the Leafs having to add. Deals to be made out there. |

This is where conditional picks come into play, Trade hammer for a Conditional 2nd, condition being that it turns into 1st of make conference finals, turns into 2nd/3rd if 2nd round, and stays 2nd if out first round or misses playoffs. GM's lately will often gamble like this. Hence why Chicago payed 2 2nds(i think it ended up being) for that 38 year old defenseman. |
