Gotcha. I don't know, honestly. But then again...why were they so vague and mysterious about it in the first place, when he missed the NJD game. They could have just said that Tavares was out with an illness in the first place, rather then calling it an "injury update" and saying they'll provide details after the game.

The only thing I can think of, and I'm not trying to say I think it's logical or agree with it, is that since it's their superstar center...maybe they're trying to play things as close to the vest as possible? I have no real clue.

Wouldn't be shocked I was thinking something along the same lines but was as usual trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. Completely stupid of course if that's the case and he has the flu.

I'd rather it be stupid and be the flu than have it make sense and be MRSA, mono, or something more serious.

It would be the perfect storm. Miss the playoffs Barclays empty and Cappy getting a built in excuse for returning next year

I had Mono and was in the hospital for a few days as a teen. It was no fun. I had to get in the summer and not miss school of course.

Makes me sick just thinking about it.

How sick could someone possibly get between a Monday game and a Thursday game?

What kills me its the same exact shat year after year. Same mistakes same players disappearing for long stretches. Yet nothing ever changes. It's comical at this point.

From TSN;

John Tavares – Missed both Islanders games over the weekend due to illness, though the circumstances appeared a tad unusual, with the Islanders revealing the reason for Tavares’ absence after the game Saturday, like announcing he was out due to illness was some kind of state secret.

We can start a crazy conspiracy theory. He's not sick at all. They benched him because he's being traded.

It's only fair because Bernier needs to be ready to play in the playoffs for Strome, Nelson, or Lee.

He probably caught something taking the train to Barclays. Those things are like incubators.

Not cold enough for them to have the heat on yet. Those trains can get so cold that MDW could store the semen samples he orders online for later consumption at his leisure.
