Bernier looked like poop on Saturday, doubt anybody is saying he played well that night, but the two games prior, he was solid... which is why he earned the 3rd start.

Reimer needs to take the chances he gets to step in, and show what he's made of... the only time he's played well is when the job was handed to him. Might say something about his mental strength.

Last 2 games:

Bernier 5goals against..... But I saw post that said he played well

Reimer 4 goals against and he was terrible, shouldn't be in the league anymore.

Let that sink in......

They;re both playing like poop. End of story. Lucky (or unlucky) for them they have 72 games to prove they're capable of being number one goalies. They've both done it before so its not impossible for them to find their games again. But right now, they suck.

I'm not huge into the reimer/bernier debate, its been done.

moreso interested to see what other goalie options will be out there down the road when bernier/reimer contracts are done.

- Lucas.Neilson

it's such a dumb debate. if either of them are your starting goalie, your goaltending is not in good hands so what difference does it make? it's like arguing over who should be the 6th dman.

Well, I disagree with him.

In any case, Bernier has outperformed Reimer so far this season, and last, IMO.

But again, that trade was a mistake, and an overreaction to the Boston series... an overreaction that may have actually made Reimer worse.

Would it be a terrible thing to bring in a third guy? Roma from Calgary cannot be any worse than Reimer at this point. Reimer would clear waivers so you would not lose him... just in case. Roma was a #1. He started the season at #1 and lost it... unless he has a Kassian-style flu, you could get him on the cheap.

I really liked Reimer back when he was battling Gustavsson but I hardly recognize him anymore.

I said Bernier played ok....5 goals doesn't mean a thing if you're letting guys like Subban rip it from the hash marks...or you let Patches ( 1 of the better scorers in the league ) walk right in...maybe he should have had it..but still...1 bad goal.

Reimer didn't even get a piece of the puck...not even close to being in the right spot...yet I didn't rip him...actually I said he played all right for the amount of playing time he gets.

So, maybe you need to stop taking some posters so seriously?

For a guy who told me he doesn't have a fav goalie...you are 24/7 putting down Bernier and sticking up for Reimer...not that I care...we've seen which goalie the management seems to think gives them the better chance. ( more than 1 coach/management team)

- Garnie

Reilly played that perfectly.... Patches wanted a change a floated a soft backhand at the net.

Bernier was terrible in mtl. Terrible.

24/7? Really I guess I didn't praise him for the buff game... That never happened

I don't want Howard. or Ward. It's either the AHL guys, or guys like Raanta, or a fresh Euro. Chasing a has been or a vet goalie is pointless right now. We need to uncover a diamond in the rough. Lucky for us, with this rebuild, there is no urgency.

Meh. He's takes poop way out of proportion. You say anything remotely positive about Bernier, and Burn will (frank) you up. Reimer on the other hand, very unlucky goalie. Team collapsed

Agreed but I think his D sold him out of the 5th goal.

Eventually, not right now, but eventually Winnipeg will have a glut of goalies.

Comrie and Hellybucyk.....plus hutch and pavelic.

I agree.

IF you've read these boards over the last month (which i know you have), i find you saying Bernier get's so much slack and excuses very confusing.

We have a number of posters whose sole purpose is to turn on Bernier. They do not do the same for Reimer, just Bernier. Sole purpose.

I have found James "the whole team collapsed" Reimer is pretty much free of blame and can do what he wants, while Bernier is questioned a lot and at least takes it head on.

- walshyleafsfan

Yeah just like that.....reimer isn't blamed at all ever.

There is a post on this page saying bernier played well in a 5goal loss and blame was placed on Reilly for the weak goal against.

The puck was barely moving.... A first year 8yesr old maki g his first ever start needs to make that save, let alone an nhl goalie.

Was that not accurate? He played well in Buffalo..... I paradise him and still posters ignore and rip.

Hilarious.

Roma?

Has Daiyleigh said it would be OK if the Leafs claimed Roma?

I have watched many great goalies play for the Leafs in the past 45 years, and Reimer and Bernier are not in that bunch, and never will be.

Completely different situations

Anaheim has legitimately good players in all positions whereas the Leafs are hopeless

Anaheim could turn it around. The Leafs were destined to fail with this roster. There was always a hope with Babcock that maybe they could squeak in but right now that's looking unlikely. 100% they are going to be a better team in the long run for it. Babcock's got players buying into a system but it will be awhile before they string some winning streaks together

The timer on Boudreau has to be running down in a hurry. It's rough to see his post-game interviews where he is pretty much saying "well damn. This sucks!"

Coaches like Boudreau/Torts have a short shelf life before the players tune them out
