Speaking of defensmen who can eat a lot of minutes with OZ starts near 60% without providing much offensively. - Feanor
Not sure if the Flyers view the other 7 guys on the roster better than MacDonald, or if there is other reasons why he's in Lehigh Valley. MacDonald is pretty bad, but I have to think he brings more to the table than Manning does.
Looks like Couturier tried to practice, but left the ice early according to the beats.
That Rinaldo is a complete POS. He drilled Couturier during camp when he was a rookie too.

Like playing Manning against Benn AND Seguin? - jak521
Jesus (frank)ing christ....Dallas game first goal, Manning couldnt corral a bouncing puck and a fluttering shot got past Mason. Cant kill Manning for it.
Second goal. Simmonds commits a horrendous turn over at the offensive blue line and Manning was too far up in the Nuetralzone. I think he expected Simmonds to get the puck deep, not handle it like the Ebola Virus.
Manning and MDZ were used against Benn and Seguin is because they are the fastest Dmen they have and Manning has some physicality to his game. Using this match up against Dallas held them to 2 goals, who had been averaging over 4 goals a game.

For me it depends on the shot. In the shootout against the Rangers Philly's first two shooters scored world-class goals on Lundqvist. The OT goal wasn't even close to that caliber. It was a straight break away, 5-hole shot. That 5-hole was huge, too.
It happens. I'm not down on Mason at all. I just think it was a weak goal. - Scoob
a guy is going to get beat 5 hole sometimes, especially in those situations. my one issue with mason there was his depth on the play. he backed in too quickly. had he stayed at or near the top of the crease, he still might have been beat, but he would have given himself a better chance.

It's quite possible 'Stol and 'Stall might hate MacDonald as a player even more than you and are planning on buying him out. But it's also possible the main reason he's down there is so they have the cap room to recall Labarbera or another AHL vet.
We can't really tell until they finally trade LSchenn or make some other move to clear some cap space. Then if they they recall MacDonald and play Manning ahead of him, or promote Ghost instead I'd be confident in saying they are planning on a buyout in summer 2016. Hextall spoke at length about how he expected MacDonald to be back on the Flyers at some point, but I find that fairly hard to believe.

This seems like a plausible scenario.
Do they have the flexibility to call up a forward for tomorrow? It's a waste of time dressing Lecavalier.

That 1st goal scored on Mason last night was more a fluke goal then a bad goal. Sometimes a puck just has eyes.
As for as Hakstol, I like what we've gotten so far. For me it seems as if the Flyers are harder on the forecheck, and are much more aggressive in their checking. They finally finish their checks.

Was it? My mistake, you're right, the coach is a screw up! - MJL
I sense sarcasm but yeah, this only adds to my point.
I've give Hakstol credit when he's deserved it. I like that we're playing as a unit. I like that the second PP is getting starting time. I don't like Raffl on the first PP unit, or Laughton and Couturier wingers getting flip flopped or the usage of Manning and Del Zotto against top lines.[/img]
