To all saying head was principal point of contact, Couturier bent down so that his head was level with Rinaldo's shoulder. Not Rinaldo's fault. And no, Rinaldo did not leave his feet.

If a player is going in for a hit, and the player he's about to hit suddenly sticks his head in the way of his shoulder, who's at fault?

Save your insane argument for the appeal of his inevitable suspension.

He did leave his feet tho. Where was couts supposed to go? Didn't have the pick and was being pressured by Macquaid along the boards.

1) Was Couturier bent over, or in an upright position?

2) Did Rinaldo's feet leave the ice prior to making contact with Couturier?

The answers are: he was bent over, and no his feet did not leave the ice.

The ONLY shady thing about this hit is that Rinaldo "follows his shoulder through" the hit.

I'm all for letting the team grow but you have to also see that the mix of players is not right. Man, I hope Hexy can get things evened out.

Clearly left his feet even though it was only for a second or two.

Couts shouldn't put himself in a position to get murdered by a clean hit.

this (frank)ing team is going to give me an aneurysm.

without a doubt that was the lamest, weakest, most pathetic (frank)ing 5 minute powerplay i've ever (frank)ing seen. (frank) you.

and they gave up a (frank)ing shortie to boot, which i predicted would happen 1 minute in.

and they lost coots to that piece of (frank)ing poop, rinaldo. way to make them pay, bumholes. they looked like they were all on (frank)ing morphine gliding around the ice without a shred of intensity or urgency. disgrace. (frank)ing disgrace.

Couturier was BENT OVER!!!

If you're saying that bent over players can't be hit then every NHL player will have a hunchback before they retire.

Until they can rid themselves of some of the bad contracts and improve the team speed this team is going to be more of the same. have to work their asses off 60 mins to win games or have goalies stand on their heads

Yeah, no. He looked around, put his head down to fish out the puck along the boards, and THEN Rinaldo comes charging in. Sometimes a player will be going in for a hit and simultaneously the person on the receiving end of the hit will put the head down -- that happens and it's not typically illegal. Rinaldo had a good couple seconds to see Coots was in a vulnerable position and went right in for the high hit. He may or may not have left his feet before contact, but he went high and thrusted up. It's dirty.

yes, he did. couturier was defenseless looking down, and rinaldo targeted him, and left his feet when he hit him. dirt bag play, from a dirt bag player.

we joked earlier today that he would injure someone because we knew it would happen.

I see what you're talking about. That's so borderline though. I think the tip of his right skate blade might still be touching the ice, as is the tip of his left skate blade, and I also think the the contact might have already been made before that frame.

It's not even the bad contracts though. Who does Simmonds mesh with offesively? What about Coots? G and Jake can't produce at 5 on 5. That has nothing to do with Vinny, AMac or RJ.

so you think he won't be suspended? I'll take that bet. he targeted the head. more of the same from Zac. we saw it here enough. I never hated the kid but hated the stupidity of his play at times. there was no reason for him to target Couturier's head.
