Can't hurt to try someone else on the top line, but the only reason G has his lone goal so far this season is because of Raffl. And Jake has 1 assist. When your top 2 players have 3 points through 5 games, they aren't getting the job done.
- wolfhounds

The one thing I notice is that both G and Jake are primarily playmakers and Raffl gets his goals by going to the net. The line could really use a pure sniper on the RW and then Jake could add his speed, possession skills and playmaking ability to the 2nd line. Even last year, once you remove the pp numbers, the lines overall output at ES was nothing special.

I'd give the following a shot:
Raffl-G-Schenn
Read-Couturier-Voracek
Umberger-Laughton-Simmonds

Tough game last night, just beat by a better team. Not a bad effort though. The PP just isn't coming through for them and ES goals are hard to come by.

I wonder if Manning played himself out of the starting lineup?

Time for another bounce-back game against da f'n Broons.

It really wasn't a bad game or effort. Dallas is 5-1, they've been averaging over 4 goals a night. Flyers held 'em to 2. If Niemi wasn't so good-and lucky-they might grab a W last night.

By luck I mean the late shot that hit him in the high chest/throat area when he was down & out. He made a load of great stops, but that one was luck

Personally I think the Flyers once again made an average goalie look like an all-star.

It would be nice if the first line could step up and score some(franking) goals!
Instead of blaming our 6th Dman, l am looking for some offensive output this team needs something soon!

The Flyers had the last change and somehow Manning saw almost five minutes of ES ice time against Seguin and Benn, during which he made two bad plays that led to two goals. That's a rookie coach getting schooled by a veteran, and an AHL-caliber player getting exposed.

Hopefully someone is asking Hextall and Hakstol about Laughton, because he should be in the AHL if the coach is going to play him under 10 minutes a game.

I'll nevER understand why coaches switch up something that's working. The flyers couldnt get into their zone with the puck at all in the 1st and 2nd. Dallas speed and heavy forecheck was giving the flyers fits and producing regular 2 vs 1's for Dallas. The third was less about the flyers battling back and more about the stars sitting back.

RJ needs to be in for white. I'm ok with Schenn but honestly would prob rather see if AMac is ready

Another thing the press needs to be asking the coach about is why BSchenn was taken off the top PP unit in favor of Raffl.

The PP this year is only clicking at 15%. It needs to be 20% or higher for this team to have a shot at making the playoffs.

I can't stand Roussel. Apparently, if a guy approaches you and you throw off your gloves and unload on him, you get matching minors. I don't mind a guy who fights, but that dude picks his spots as bad as anyone in the league.

Shea Weber has more points than the 2 of them put together. Just sayin.

2 goals or less in 4 out of 5 games. Small sample size, but methinks scoring is going to be an issue all season long. If the PP doesn't produce, this team is a bottom feeder.

Daniel Winnik also has more than both of them put together

I completely agree here. I'm not sure what's driving this. Are they trying to give him a look to see how he fits in the long-term plans? Or have they already made the determination that he does but they're just trying to ease him in?

This team is going to struggle to score. Playing the 4th line over the 3rd line for significant minutes is likely to make that problem a lot worse.

Yeah mentioned Ruff doing an awesome job in getting match ups last night. Almost masterful.

Agreed on Laughton too. The kid makes stuff happen. Get him out more & let him blossom

Yeah the Flyers push back was largely the result of Dallas playing with a lead. Got to remember Hakstol's a rookie, too, still learning and getting a feel for things.

Raffl could not catch a pass last night and was aggravating to watch all game. Gagner gets pushed around out there and I'm not talking about the fight, which was pathetic. Hopefully the Manning "Trial" is over. Get Luke in the lineup.

I did notice that Gagner gets knocked off of the puck very easily.

One thing I really liked last night was Medvdev's 1-on-1 defense sequence against Benn. He was able to recover quickly, and use his positioning and speed/size to limit Benn's scoring chance. He's been, to me, our best defenseman so far, although that might not be saying much.
