Dunno, there's some pretty dark poop in those trailers. Bodies flying around, people getting tortured... I was getting more of an Empire Strikes Back vibe from it.

Ah yes, the true machete order, in which you lop off the four most recently released movies

So I decided to watch all 6 with my daughter. What do you guys suggest as the best viewing order. I read a blog online that suggested:

IV, V, II, III, then VI.

They, like most of us, really hate part I but I'll probably include that between V and II because my daughter is younger and she'll enjoy the little kid, and dare I say it, Jar Jar.

But the theory is if you do this order, you still get the great reveal of Vader as Luke's father, and then the prequel is a long flashback before the conclusion in VI.

What do you think?

- TheGreat28

Watch 4, 5,6 then pick 3 other movies to watch. 1, 2, 3 are just trash.

Absolutely. They know the "old people" will go see it regardless, and they want to draw in the new crowd. Just sucks, unless my preconceptions are wrong.
- jmatchett383

I'm one of the olds that will see it because ZOMG! THE MILLENNIUM FALCON!111!!!.

But I do have a 9 YO son and he actually not only liked the prequels, but we both watched and enjoyed the Clone Wars cartoons (set before Episode 3) and we both like the newer Star Wars Rebels.

My kid can't wait for the new movie and neither can I, but I think it's for different reasons. My kid seems to just like stories set in that universe, and I want to see 75 YO Mark Hamill swing a lightsaber.

Ha. Not a big Darth Maul fan?

They do have Natalie Portman though, so they got that going for them.

I hated Return of the Jedi as a kid... couldn't stomach it. The prequels... well... my god.

I was content just watching Empire over and over and over again -- until the VHS died.

I actually liked both of the Star Trek movies. That said, I don't think they had a damn thing to do with Star Trek. Again, they basically slapped a franchise sticker on a movie, included the requisite names, and just made a random sci-fi space movie.
- jmatchett383

I liked them both, as well. I think the casting for those Star Trek movies was pretty damned good.

Then again, I'm not a big Star Trek guy. A hardcore Star Trek type may feel differently.

Yes. Cockknocker.

Kevin Smith having a lightsaber fight with Mark Hamill was just living the dream.

half of RotJ is pretty good. It's not one contiguous half, but various parts throughout. Pretty much just any part with the emperor.

It never got as good as Empire ever again. Not even just within Star Wars, but in regards to all things in the universe.

Saw Kevin Smith and Ralph Garman do their Hollywood Babble On podcast live in Philly on October 9th. Had a great time.....

Replace Ewoks with Wookiees and that movie would have been 20% better, IMO.

and took an extra two minutes too. so, no, not a great play, considering the Flyers became shorthanded as a result.
- funmaster18

Flyers have never been known for this...ever? Not the Flyers, no way. I'm fine with it. I love what Ryan did last night. Love it! Showing signs of life, fire and passion is never a bad thing.

I'll probably see it at some point (JJ is 1 for 2 on Star Trek themed action movies), but I'll hold off until the showings that don't include everyone cheering everytime they see a thing they remember.

Yeah but Brayden Schenn at age 23 went 35 games without a goal. That's what our focus should be on...

The Han rescue from RotJ is one of my favorite scenes from the whole series. It's a hallmark of my childhood VCR watching so while I don't hate it and even like the movie a whole lot, most of the Battle of Endor I can do without. The end though with Luke and Lando blowing up Death Star II -- also one of my favorite scene(s) from the series. Weirdly enough I only owned IV and VI on VHS though I had seen V. When I got the DVD collection a handful of years later though, V became my favorite....duh haha.

My dad took me to the movies that summer and I had a choice of which movie I wanted to go to. I chose Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger.

No regrets.
