god damn.

this is borderline heartbreaking

It is heartbreaking. The kid obviously has the talent to be an NHL player, his body just isn't cooperating.

It is mind boggling. I read yesterday 99 games played 90 missed.

It frustrating, because you see what he can do in games like Tuesday night. IF he could stay healthy, he could be a big contributor to this team.

remember when everyone said how lazy kessel is defensively? I saw him multiple times backcheck and help out the defense while Sid was coasting back. He's been great in both ends of the ice. Reminds me a little of how malkin uses his speed to steal pucks

ELC kicking in is a pretty big deal. If we are healthy is he really that much better than our 12th forward this year that its worth giving up a basically free monster 3rd elc year.

Its a tough call he definitely deserves to be in NHL with AHL playing time at some point during the year.

Can we bring Sprong back for the playoffs after his junior season is over? Saad did that as an 18 year old. If he plays games 10,11,12 in the playoffs does that kick in the elc.

If he dresses for 9+ NHL games. Doesn't matter when they happen.

Bennett to IR. Really weird. Was on the ice as an extra attacker Tuesday in the dying minutes. No one said anything after the game about an injury. Wednesday was an off day too. I'm actually worried. He did everything right this year too. Trained hard, ate right, looked very good all throughout camp. Not fair.

Risk mitigation is important here though. We can't plan our roster around a fully healthy lineup because it never happens. I understand both sides here. But if he can help the team in anyway this year, you keep him. Just because Maatta was on his ELC didnt mean we should have waited a year to squeeze out another year of a cheap contract.

In other words, its not "burning" a year of his ELC. It is "utilizing" a year of his ELC. I just dont worry about Daniel Sprong's 2018 contract the way others do.

as long as they have a plan to get him up to 15 mins a night, it should be worth it.

How about this... As long as they plan to give him a couple games or a few shifts every couple of games with the top two lines to see if he can do so, keep him up. If its for being a 4th liner, I'd rather just send him down.

Some reason Sid and Geno anger everyone.

Now we have Horny, and he angers everyone.

Tanger, Horny, and Geno play dirty; Kuni can also have a dirty side.

Last night if Neil decides to murder Geno, what would we have done? Nothing. We can't.

The level in which we piss other teams off is off the charts, look what happened with Dallas and Tampa last night.

We need toughness, the league has changed quite a bit in the past few years, but there is still that element of toughness that a team needs.

Goons are gone (sadly), but tough a-holes like Neil(who is my favorite non Pen of all time) still play in this league. We are vulnerable and if someone decides to kill our superstars we have no deterrent.

If I was a coach of any team in the league I would tell my players to punch either Sid or Geno right in the teeth after every single play.

I haven't seen enough out of Plotnikov, and evidently he is in the dog house for some reason.

I want someone with a little bit of grit and toughness on our blue line.

For some reason? How about trying to oversell a call and flop around like a ballerina dancer at the Pens blue line as a result leading to the game winning goal vs the hottest team in the NHL. Had he not done that who knows the outcome of the game that night.
I think thats why he's in the doghouse because other than that he looked better than half the forwards playing....up until last night that is.

With Bennett I just have this feeling that it isn't going to be hockey related. I have a gut feeling that this is going to be another link in the ongoing saga of strange illnesses for Pens players. Letang Stroke, Maatta Cancer, Dupuis Blood Clot, Bennett....

I really hope for his sake it isn't, but the vagueness and no noticeable issues from Tuesdays game, I think we are in store for another press conference announcement.
