Thank goodness the Rags traded Duclaire.

Sadly his hat trick is the highlight of my NHL experience this year.

Suck it Rags.

I'll spare you my thoughts on 87 and 71. I love them both but good lord.

Can't say I see us beating the Sens. Best chance was Arizona and yet it was our worst performance in terms of effort.

Crosby and Malkin lines need to get their heads outta their asses and start playing up to their ability. The effort has been inexcusable. The division is wide open and most Metro teams haven't gotten the results they expected this first week. But first 10 games of a season are pretty accurate predictors of the end of season standings so they need to improve their chances before they are in a bigger hole.

1. To an extent, he's right. Malkin and Crosby just seem to be lacking that edge to them that they had pre-2011 injuries. they still are high level players, but not scoring a goal in 18 straight games, including playoffs, is pretty telling.

3 games in to the season. Calm down. They do very much need to be better but to go as far as to say they cant carry the team is over dramatic. Name one player thats never had a stretch of 3 games where they looked bad for how they normally play.

2. Despres trade killed us, no question. The Perron trade is a bit different considering DePaoli was one that tweeted out how good the trade was when it was made, something a lot of people did given the poor depth we had. It hasnt worked out so far, and we wouldve been better off with that 15th pick in the draft. but sometimes that's just the way it works out.

The trade is not killing us. If lovejoy was doing god awful I'd see what you're saying but he is playing average and thats all we need for him. Yes it was a bad trade but this statement is way over dramatic. Despres was a turn over machine and IMO never looked good in our system. Every team has it's bad trade or two. It's time to accept it and move on. As for Perron its to early to say they would be better off with the pick. If he stays and is a regular member of the top 6 it will be very much worth it. Also hind sight is 20/20 so lets not act like we know how every possible trade will work out any more than the GM.

3. Rutherford, in my opinion, has been better but still not the direction this organization needs. He still isnt putting an emphasis on young guys, and still isnt committed to the long term picture of the franchise.

Emphasis on young guys? What does this even mean? There aren't many young guys good enough to play for them in there system. He also is handcuffed by the big contracts Shero gave to old guys.
What do you mean he isn't committed long term picture of the team? He signed the starting goalie for 4 years, got kessel for the next 6, and isn't trading every pick they have like shero did. He is way more committed to the long term than Shero was. Which is sad because Rutherford doesnt plan on being a GM for more than 4 years.

I wouldn't give up so soon. The D hasn't been the disaster we've been expecting and I fully believe we have very good or great players. I really wonder what's going on inside that locker room to produce such a garbage result.

It's not like this team actually sucks it's just playing like garbage. If we play to our potential we can beat the Sens, who are a very good team, but the question is will we? If we don't come out the gate looking for blood after a 0-3 start where we got embarrassed by the worst team in the league and lost our home opener, well then I just don't know what to say at that point.

You'll be saying "welcome interim head coach Rick Tochett". Actually, I think the TO game will be the breaking point if we lose that game.

They can't lose tonight right? I mean Ottawa coming off a win last night, we are home, and we have poop the bed so far. They gotta come out like their hair is on fire right? If not I'll start to be concerned.

If they brought up DP and Clendening and got them integrated to the team it would go better, IMO. If the D does not have enough skill to get the puck to the forwards who are generating speed into the zone we are poop. Anyway, that's what I see.

You think? Tochett is Mario's buddy and has HC experience. I hear Mike Keenan wants back in the NHL. Yes I'm saying it jokingly, but the way some of these guys are skating around like zombies they need an ass kicker.

It's interesting to see the teams that are struggling out of the gate.

LA is 0-3
Columbus is 0-4
Anaheim is 0-2-1, and only has scored 1 goal in 3 games.

People need to be patient. It's only 3 games into the season. This team will find it's stride offensively.

What if Darryl Sutter got fired from LA and we snagged him after going 0-5?

Hope to god we don't go 0-5...

A team that goes 0-82 has to be 0-3 at some point in the season
