@Dupuis: just to gain prospective: despite everything we are still in contention for the presidents trophie, Sid, Malkin, and Geno are still in the Art Ross, Hart, and Rocket Richard race, Letang is still in the Noris conversation, and we have certainly not been eliminated from the playoffs.
Johnston has worried me so far, but after two games im not ready to put him in the hot seat let alone fire him. A good start for him is to end this asinine split PP experiment. Then he can go on to slightly less intuitive things like better line combos and benchin Scuderi. But I honestly think we'll be fine. |

The only people who are working today are in retail and road construction ( winters coming, get that poop done)....and they are cashing in with double time and a half. - Jeropotato
Funny, I didn't realize that engineering fell into the "retail and construction" industry. And I'm salaried, so no double time and a half.
Not one single person I know has off today. Guess we all work retail and construction. |

Does anyone get Columbus day off? I don't know anyone that does. Every single game is being played in an American arena so that isn't likely to help attendance. - jfkst1
I get it off, yes it is a perk. Up next Vets Day! |

@Victoro311: just to gain perspective: despite everything the Flyers are still in contention for the presidents trophy, Lecavalier, Umberger, and Van de Velde are still in the Art Ross, Hart, and Rocket Richard race, Luke Schenn is still in the Noris conversation, and they have certainly not been eliminated from the playoffs. |

Canada, Bubba. I'm in Canada. And when I was on salary I didn't get time and a half, I just got the day ( or a different day if business dictated) off with pay.
But I forget we have a semi socialist system up here in comparison with the land of the free down south. |

Ah, gotcha. So when I started this conversation, about games in the USA, you just assumed we were talking about Canada? How about you try specifying a country before saying "the only people." I specifically mentioned "people in the United States" so, when you replied without specification, I logically assumed you were staying on topic.
Then I remembered I was talking to the "Why hasn't Hextall traded everyone on the Flyers" guy. |

You're right. I should probably just give up on the season and join the #TradeMalkin train. Two games are a good enough sample size of our guaranteed failure.
EDIT: also apologies for the typos. This site on a smartphone while at work and trying to be sneaky is hard to manage. |

It's def a Federal Holiday in Murrica. So people who work for the Fed Govt have that off. |

Absolutely. Malkin for Brayden Schenn.
Edit: MY point is that, right now, everyone is still in contention for every trophy (a goalie could theoretically win every trophy except for the Norris and Selke). |

I work for a government inst. and our office is not closed. Granted it's the Boys & Girls Club/AmeriCorp so I guess we play by different rules. |

They need to offload and rebuild from scratch. They might be doing it this year, actually. |

They might as well after their stupidity from the offseason. Only move I liked was trading Lucic. Everything else they did ranged from mediocre to idiotic. Didn't expect them to be good, but I don't want them to get a top draft pick either. |

That's absurd. That's really absurd. Not as absurd as some of the made-up religious holidays, but still absurd.

Yep, the Pens ran into 2 hot goalies, Scuds played really bad in the first game, the PP was bad in both games, and lines can use some slight tweaking.
Put the right 5 players on the ice for The top PP (Sid, Kessel, Geno, Letang, and Horny). Put Perron on the line with Malkin and Horny, try Sprong with Sid and Kessel. Play BB on the RW and put in Clendening instead of Scuds. - I guarantee a WIN! |
