Why are we deciding what anybody's place on the team is after one game where the whole team stunk it up for 40 minutes.

Weber is no longer the whipping boy, he's just the joke. The real whipping boy is Reinhart.

- Der Kaiser

I'm not even saying Reinhart is bad. I'm just not sure playing him outside the top 6 does him or the team any good. He's not suited for that role, especially this early in his career, and I think he's a liability if he's there.

How we managed a 'Win now' rebuild with Mike Webber on defense is baffling. That and the complete unknown in net.

Edit: Yes Mike Webber now has 2 B's, because he is that bad.

- Buffalo--Sabres

Weber didn't upset me yesterday because I knew what he was to begin with, a defenseman that simply isn't very good. However, there wasn't one defenseman that I thought had a good game last night. I have to say, though, I barely noticed Colaiacovo, which, in theory, is a good thing.

Based on last night's starting lineup, he's in the top 6.

The lines were being changed all night long.

Why are you questioning whether he can play in a role that would require demoting him after 40 minutes, if you're not saying he's bad?

It's just dumb luck or conditioning or whatever that Lehner is going back into his net and suffers this injury. Achilles? Knee? Maybe it's his ankle. With that boot on his leg I would have to think this is a long term situation. Very unfortunate for him.

I say Murray calls Calgary to get Hiller. Or sign Emery or Budaj short term. We're stuck with Lehner but I don't think he's the long term solution here.

Except he's the only defenseman that finished the game a -2. I thought Pysyk played a pretty good game. I only noticed him because I was looking for him. He's one of my favorites on the roster right now, so I made sure to watch him when he was out there. Otherwise I don't think I would have noticed him much at all.

Because Girgensons looked a lot better with Eichel and Kane last night than either Foligno or Reinhart, and it wasn't even close. They need to keep that together at least fro the time being. Unless you demote one of O'Reilly, Ennis, or Moulson, where do you put him?

I don't think you change anything based on 40 minutes.

Colio played another solid game...guy is quietly becoming an asset for this team

Murray said on WGR yesterday that Lehner still had some conditioning things to work on but that it was a result of not being able to do any physical activity for 3+ months due to the concussion.

I'm not a high level athlete, but I know these guys aren't used to sitting around for that long without being able to work out. I would think it's takes quite awhile to get back into "game shape" after that long of a layoff.

And not it is going to be even longer. I assume he tore something. Which is going to be at least 6 months. The trade looks very bad right now, very bad.

scratch Mike Weber for eternity. Put in McCabe or Donovan in the next game.

I hate that people are saying this. Yes, the trade would look bad if he was actually playing poorly. But how exactly is the trade bad when the guy gets injured? You can't account for that. Who's to say that Talbot or Lack end up here and have the same type of luck?

The only goal Edmonton "scored" last night was a goal the Blues scored on themselves.

Now I know I'm probably going to get poop for this, but we actually out possessed Ottawa last night! (40-48 in shot attempts). I know the score at the end of the day was not in our favor, but I cannot think of a time when we actually out shot and out possessed a team last year. We are definitely improving (just imagine if that third period lasted the whole game). I want to point out that once Eichel and Girgensons were paired together, they had an impressive+9 shot attempts for (corsi for) and allowed 0 shot attempts against (corsi against) in 7 minutes.

The Kane-Eichel-Girgs line looked solid once they were put together. Lots of offensive zone time. ROR and Moulson were meh last night. Lots of new faces, will take time to build chemistry.

I still really wanna see Franson and Pysyk together. I think they compliment each others strengths well.
