Why are people surprised? Half the team is new. This is what, the second game, including preseason where the group has played together as a whole? There were some brutal moments to be sure, but as soon as Eichel scored the switch flipped. If that damn replay didn't take 8 minutes we could've kept the momentum. As it was we still outplayed them after that, but you just can't play 10 minutes and expect to win.

As was posted before there needs to be a time limit for replays(2 minutes), take a TV timeout, and if they can't figure it out in that time the call on the ice stands. Minimal loss of momentum that way. Also, my phone is bigger than the tablets they use for replays.

It's just dumb luck or conditioning or whatever that Lehner is going back into his net and suffers this injury. Achilles? Knee? Maybe it's his ankle. With that boot on his leg I would have to think this is a long term situation. Very unfortunate for him.

I say Murray calls Calgary to get Hiller. Or sign Emery or Budaj short term. We're stuck with Lehner but I don't think he's the long term solution here.

It happened on a save he made. Went down, and he winced.

If Lenher is out for say 3-4 weeks and we go with Johnson, we're in real trouble. I'm not sure Makarov or Lieuwen is ready for full time duty here, rather see them get an experienced vet to hold things down.

Maybe it's conditioning. I found it a bit odd that he didn't arrive in Buffalo till a week or so before camp. When you get traded and have the whole off season to get used to your new surroundings, you would think you come in early, get settled. Maybe even play a few scrimmages with your new mates.

I would definitely look at one of the 3 Calgary goalies. They seem to be going with Ramo and Hiller might be the odd man out there.

It's only the first game and preseason really meant nothing...this team with the turnover it had will need 20-30 games to mesh and get comfortable with DB's system. We all can agree on one thing...get rid of Weber!!!!

Until Lehner's injury is diagnosed and the time off is determined there won't be any trading for a goalie...Lehner is GMTM's man and he isn't going to second guess himself this early unless the injury is long term and it is an easy out to bring in another goalie

Hey guys, hadn't really had a chance to comment on last nights outcome.

Team looked a little lost for most of the game. They weren't really sure who was supposed to take the reigns. That's to be expected with so many new players. Things obviously turned around after we a got a few pucks in the net.

The goal song is purely hilarious. Anyone who has issues with it needs to loosen up.

Were obviously not going to be fans of a new replay system that cost us a chance to be in our first game. Beyond that I still don't like it. Murders the momentum of the game, plus the refs should do their dam jobs. I could see coaches using the challenge as a method to stop negative momentum and basically get a free timeout.

Goaltending: Are we calling someone up from Rochester already?

All in all we kept the game close, and not like last year were we kept it close on miracle goal tending, we were actually close in shots and possession. I am officially pumped for hockey, my team and being competitive. Go Sabres!

To me, for the first two periods, they looked like a team where the stage was a little too big and the lights a little too bright. You could tell Eichel was feeling things out. Reinhart looked a little overwhelmed. O'Reilly, Ennis and Moulson looked out of sync most of the game, and so did Girgensons, Foligno, and Larsson. The best move Bylsma made was putting Girgensons up with Kane and Eichel in the third.

This defense is bad, folks. We all knew it coming in, and it's just something we're going to have to live with, unless Murray pulls off a surprise move somewhere.

All in all, I think the issue is chemistry. I would like to see Girgensons stay with Kane and Eichel for the time being, but I have no idea what the hell you do with Reinhart then, and that's before Gionta comes back.

Why are we deciding what anybody's place on the team is after one game where the whole team stunk it up for 40 minutes.

Weber is no longer the whipping boy, he's just the joke. The real whipping boy is Reinhart.

How we managed a 'Win now' rebuild with Mike Webber on defense is baffling. That and the complete unknown in net.

Edit: Yes Mike Webber now has 2 B's, because he is that bad.
