I wonder if you could assemble all the waivers guys and make a team better than the Leafs?

I guess you can still be fat and be fit? Because the fat thing is confirmed by anyone with eyes.

Let's also look at the seemingly purposeful ambiguity in the wording of Damo's tweet there: "Word is three of the fittest Leafs during precamp testing were Kessel, Brown..."

1. "Word is..." Did this word come from someone privy to the test results, who read and understood them properly, or was it Howard Berger posing as a janitor mopping floors within earshot of the trainer's office?

2. "Three of the fittest."This does not clearly indicate Phil was in the top 3 of all the test results. How many are this "fittest" group that Kessel and Brown and Donaghy were a part of? Why not tell us who the 3 fittest were, or that Kessel was in the top 10 or something? There's a reason for this ambiguous wording. Let's say there were 60 Leafs in camp and Cox decided the top 55 were the fittest Leafs in camp. Kessel could have been #55 of 60.

Would you put it past Damien Cox to spin something this close to crossing the boundaries of reason and ethical reporting in order to create something to talk about? I wouldn't.

Not impressed with Shanny's quote.

I think a guy who is president of the laughing stock of the league should be a little more reserved. I also think nobody was happier with that trade than Kessel, rightfully so.

What was Shanny's quote?
- 1979AD

Sooooooooooo......

I don't know if this has been covered yet, but the Leafs held a coaches' clinic on Saturday at the ACC.

At various points, they trotted out all the Leafs management (except Lou) to give a crappy speech and answer some questions.

Last guy was Shanny.

Some coach stands up and asks (I'm paraphrasing here):

"You've talked a lot about changing the culture of a hockey team. I've just taken over coaching duties for my kid's team, as the coach's son has been promoted to the next level.

So what's your advice to me for making positive changes to the already established culture to the team?"

Shanny pauses, looks, and then says:

"Well, I'm not familiar with the rules of your local hockey association, so I don't know if you can trade a player to Pittsburgh."

At that point, the entire crowd said:

"Ha ha ha .....Oooooooooooooooh."

Shanny smirked, said something to the effect of he knew he was going to be in trouble for it, BUT HE DID NOT TAKE IT BACK.

Funny thing is, I've been a Phil defender here, but man oh man, Shanny was definitely sending a message, and he was standing by it.

Seriously - there must have been some serious animosity going on there, for him to say something like that publically, holy poop!

A couple of quick other observations about Saturday's Leafs coaching clinic:

Babcock stepped up to the podium and started to talk. He then paused and basically told people that when he talks, he doesn't appreciate people playing with their phones. I was sitting in reds, and I still felt the chill from his glare. The dude is pretty effing intense - he may just be the antidote to Blue and White disease.

Babcock said his philosophy on line combos: he likes to put two skill guys with one hard worker - it's the hard worker's job to go low and get pucks back to the skill guys.

You didn't hear? It's either one or the other now. Shanny or Babs - pick your side.

I can't wait for the first Leafs vs Pens game. It will be exciting to see which player lays a body-check on Kessel first so we can determine that that player was getting vengeance on Kessel for being an bumhole in the dressing room.

I expect Shanny, Lou and BabRichard to all be fired mid-season.
