I thought at times he looked pretty good in pre-season. I think he would be a decent 2nd line center on a good team. He is easily the best center the Leafs have now.

hamels sure, gallardo? meh. 1.42 whip. give the jays that many guys on base and they'll kill you. he has good record vs the jays on his career but the sample size is tiny.

look at a team like houston and you'd have to deal with kuechel, mccullers, mchugh. way tougher. i would add kazmir to the list but he's been bad in houston.

you must simply continue to buy into the Bernier hype - that is consistent with the messages that have come down from management starting with him signing his first deal in Toronto.

the Saturday night game was "vintage Bernier"... able to give up the total momentum shifting goal at any point ... and then appear cool and detached about it post game.

I was so opposed to resigning this guy to more than a single year at the minimum amount possible. He simply does NOT come up with saves when they are needed.

The upside is however, that he will be completely exposed by Babcock.... who I hope will stick to his "whoever's hot" methodology - which he used in Detroit.

Fact is (Note that I say FACT here) both Reimer and Bernier played their respective best when more or less platooning - before Carlyle decided for no particular reason (because Bernier probably whined behind closed doors) that Bernier would be the number one. They were both MUCH better prior to that - and shyte since then.

He has a chance to be on the first pp unit, most of the other guys wont have that opportunity. dumba can put up points...a bit suspect defensively tho
