Koko is going to cry foul now no matter what happens. I say package him up with Jeremy smith, Kevan Miller and Talbot and move that whole package with a late round draft pick for a dman of some better picks.

truth be told we could probably get a decent to good return on the following:

koko ,Subban and talbot traded right now for a top 4dman
Kelly at the deadline for a decent pick (shouldn't be resigned so move him regardless of our position) don't want to lose him to FA for nothing.
seidenberg now for a pick...just frees up a roster spot
if eriksson contract doesn't get worked out by the deadline trade him for a high pick
k miller and trotman are also on the trade bubble this season ones got to get packaged into a deal and sent out for a prolific winger with some high scoring potential (JVR/Yakupov type) we have the pieces to make something work.

Eriksson is worth more than a pick. People are overvaluing picks. Why trade a young 60 point scoring top of the line 2-way forward for a chance at another one someday? We cannot trade away every asset. If/when Quaid gets injured, there's no nasty left if we don't have Miller. Kelly is one of the best leaders and best PK guys. He needs to be resigned under 2 million for at least one more year before we see what we really have in Hayes, Connolly and Belesky ( Even though none of them bring to the table what Kelly does) And Seidenberg won't yield anything at this point, he needs to get back in form. In addition, why trade Subban at this point? His stock will only rise. I agree Koko can be traded and packaged with Smith and potentially a Dman for a top 4, but at this point, I think they relly need to ride out with Trot, K mIll, Irwin, and Morrow t osee who will flop. Play a couple months and see who the odd man out is. Last year everyone thought Boston had too much defense. They trade away Boychuck, Seid and Chara and K Miller have injured seasons, and suddenly they have no one. Keeping an NHL caliber prospect in the pipeline isn't a bad idea at this point, and EVERY Bruins fan should know that.

well if you read my line on eriksson I said if his contract isn't extended.... i'm not saying ship him away now for peanuts... it's also the same thought process for kelly... if we can't get these guys signed to reasonable deals they need to be traded, we can't let them walk at FA and get nothing in return. I don't know anyone who said we had too many D men last year. Boychuck was a cap casualty, given the ages and hard mins Chara and Seids play everyone had to know injuries were going to haunt us eventually. Mcquaid you can pencil in now for a 3 month injury, K Miller won't have the same nasty edge all year due to his shoulder injury from last season (self admitted in an interview) he'll look to drop the gloves a lot less. I think there's too much of a log jam at D right now and they can move some pieces. too many guys are subject to waivers as well and could cost us.

as for subban, I just don't see his future here.... rask is signed longterm and McIntyre is a potential up can comer.... subban's not going to be a 1st round pick that plays in the minors for 6 years. there are teams who could move him up the ladder fast and could/would potentially give up some good pieces to get him.

I've never heard anyone refer to Krug as "Freddy", although I get it. McQuaid has the best nicknames: Darth Quaider and Lone Wolf.

Thorton gave him that nickname apparently
